Short answer: IT DEPENDS.? I use them all.
-Analog FM, for it's great audio quality.? I work in noisy equipment rooms in a broadcast facility, FM is LOUDER and more intelligible on our portables.? ?I can see why most fire departments rejected digital.? ?ALLSTAR sounds wonderful here also.
-DMR, can sound GREAT if on simply a real radio, going through a real DMR repeater.? ?It has no noise floor, and makes use of?all those noisy fringe coverage areas?where FM just sounds like picket fence crackling crap.? ?Most old farts (like me) just need to do it with right gear before rejecting it.? The 2nd generation vocoders of the last few years are much better.? We use it at my work also.? ?I love the digital "features" like private call, radio check,unlimited talkgroups at the simple turn of a knob etc.? Crappy hotspots, on their wifi and bluetooth, cellphones, Apps, and God knows what else attached...RUINED the quality of most DMR out here.? Keep it simple!?
-P25 same answer as DMR, however, the Moto portables are either HUGE, or ridiculously overpriced.? What's the deal with that?? I can't lug one of these Soviet sized radios on my belt.? : )
