Solar 29 APR 2025

Observations from Grafton, WV.
One weak solar and one of lightning. The lightning was just to the north of me and I was only seeing about 1/4 of what is shown in the spectrogram. So does that mean 3/4 stayed in the clouds? I took a similar spectrogram up to the weather students at West Virginia University and asked them. They were baffled and amazed that I could do something like that. Any one here know a lightning expert I could get in touch with??

Thanks,
~Duane

Jeff:
? ? ?That all sounds great. You did say that you used console? May I suggest starting from scratch once your assembly is complete. Please keep me posted. We can ask for additional help along the way if needed.

Hi John,?

My set up a dual dipole. I live at 51 north so my antennas are about 18¡¯ off the ground. They are in an east/west orientation. I have a phasing cable (I think it was 90 degree) in the south antenna feed line. They go into the combiner and then to the receiver. I am using a RSP1A. All the supplies were bought from the RadioJove website.?

It isn¡¯t back up yet. I wanted to have a look at all the connections again before I get things back in the air.?

I followed the instructions from RadioJove.

I haven¡¯t been able to get ANYTHING, period. Since I put up my antenna about 1 1/2 YEARS ago, I think I have gotten solar two days! I bought a detected laptop for it and using the SRD Radio console, I get nothing. I got those few days of signals with the previous method not using SRD console, but I haven¡¯t tried on my new laptop. I went back to my old laptop and the older method and I get nothing on it now. I had to take my antennas down to do some spring yard clean up and I am wondering if I should even bother putting it up again??? Whether it be RFI, my location, my construction of the antenna (I had a 34 year career in electronics and had dealings with radios and antennas, so I am not new with them), I haven¡¯t been able to get things working as the regular posters here do.?
