Of course!? Sorry, as a newbie, every little blip on the spectrum is a new discovery and something more to learn about. :) But obviously not what we want when we¡¯re trying to tune into Radio Jove. ?
Did the overload damage your system or ruin your calibration? Maybe there¡¯s no way to prevent it if the ionosphere is being blasted. ?
It seems like the interference levels and variations in the ionosphere are changing dramatically in the short time since I¡¯ve joined the group.? Especially, the activity in Europe seems very high.
Wow! I did hear A LOT of contest on all these amateur HF ham bands via my vertical HF antenna on Sunday.? This overload is such an interesting phenomenon to see!?
I know the author and worked with him when he was chairman of the EE department at University of Colorado. ?I think he became president of Virginia Polytech after several good years at CU. ?A very bright individual. ?Many of the most important antenna designers came to work with him including Gupta and Collins.

Howdy,
Forgive the sidetrack from the normal conversations here. Yesterday I
went to a used book sale and picked up "Field and Wave Electromagnetics"
by David K. Cheng. I am not familiar with the book or the author but it
appears to be a college text with significant sections about radio
waves, antennas, waveguides, and other things that probably relate to
what we are doing/studying here.
Does any one here recognize the text or the author?

Thanks to John and Tom for the heads-up for the SID associated with the X1 flare yesterday.? I have attached the view from our observatory.? Note not only the SID, but between 15:45 and 16:00 UTC there is a cluster of faint Type III bursts, presumably associated with the large ejection of material that occurred in the minutes after the flare (see ).? That cluster is shown in more detail in the second attached file.
