Re: Some Io-B from today (April 16, 2025), Dark Sky Observatory

Hi Richard,

It is the wifi for the house, along with TV and telephone.....so I can't turn it off for hours while we observe Jupiter.? Larry gave me the specs for ferrite cores to reduce the RFI from the router and dehumidifier:? 31500 Ferrite Filter Core Material 31 Mix ID 1/2" 13mm Inner Diameter.? I have short-listed two manufacturers (DXE and Fair Rite) and will probably go with the following as it seems specialized for Ham Radios:

Can anyone recommend a better ferrite core?

Cheers.......Steve

Hi Steve,

That is really interesting and great progress.? On my single dipole setup at my home I get very similar narrow-band RFI at multiple frequencies.? It is interesting that it turned out to be your router.? Is that your WiFi router?? I attributed that noise to the incredibly noisy traffic lights in Boone -- when one drives through an intersection one's FM radio is completely blanked out.? I will reconnect my home setup and see what happens when I switch off my router!

Best wishes,? Richard
