M 94
Dear RAC, Last night I got about 3 hours of exposure on M 94 in hopes of being able to detect its very large but faint outer halo, Ive sent two versions-one highlighting the galaxy itself, and the other its faint outer halo. These were imaged with the 10" MSRO/RAC RC telescope and QHY 294 M Pro CMOS camera using BVR filters and creating a pseudo-RGB image. Myron |
T CrB Light Curves 2025-February 2
Dear RAC, CAS , and Friends, Well the outburst of T CrB that was expected last year did not happen, and over the past month I have been following this star in the morning sky. It seems to have settled somewhat into quiescence so the wait continues. Here is about 30 minutes of data this morning before clouds interfered. Myron |

M109 from MSRO
Dear RAC,
Here is another version of M109 taken using the 10¡± MSRO/ RAC telescope. It was processed by my friend Steve R of the Charlottessville Astronomical Society. It¡¯s about 3 hours of exposure using the photometric BVR filters for the color channels and combining as a RGB composite Myron |
Re: M 109
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý? It is a perfect example of a barred spiral- one of the prettiest in the sky for sure! And very easy to find- just off the edge of the bowl of the Big Dipper near Gamma Ursa Majoris.? On Jan 31, 2025, at 9:18?AM, Brian Barbre via groups.io <brianwbarbre@...> wrote:

I think we may have one scheduled at James River State Park. I¡¯ll call Marty to verify this and let you know. Thanks for spearheading our Caledon dates. If there are others reading this message who would like to help Glenn with sponsoring star parties at Caledon please let him know. The dates he has proposed are those where he has committed to being there to represent RAC. If there are others in the club who can be at Caledon to represent RAC we might be able to get back to having monthly star parties there. Re: M81
With only 2hrs those dust lanes are already emerging. That is a great start to galaxy season. I¡¯m in Costa Rica for the week and brought my Seestar with me for fun and it is fun exploring at a totally different latitude.?
