Dear RAC, Here is an image I took last night using the 12-inch LX-200 SCT of MSRO Station 2. This telescope, as well as others at MSRO,? is available for use by RAC members. If interested in learning how to observe remotely with it-just send me an email. Myron

March RAC Meeting Cancelled
The Rappahannock Regional Library has?closed?its meeting rooms to outside groups beginning Monday.? Therefore, RAC's March business meeting is cancelled.
If you have not renewed your RAC membership yet, please mail your renewal to the Treasurer by March 31 to prevent your membership from expiring.
Glenn D. Faini Chemical and Environmental Engineer, Retired President, Rappahannock Astronomy Club

The April Star Party is Cancelled
Due to the?extension of Social Distancing through April 30, the April Star Party at Caledon is Cancelled.
If individuals want to go out with their own equipment to stargaze, they are free to do so, if the park is open.? Please note that park facilities, including restrooms are closed to the public.
Glenn D. Faini Chemical and Environmental Engineer, Retired President, Rappahannock Astronomy Club

RAC's April Meeting will be held via Zoom Video Conference. RAC's Executive Council video conferenced the March meeting, and it went well enough for us to try making meetings available via the internet for RAC members who cannot?attend in person.? If all?goes well, this will continue even after we are able to meet in person again.
I will send out details and meeting invitations via this RAC's Groups.io eMail server.

COVID-19 and Belmont Observatory
No worries, no one at Belmont Observatory is sick or has had contact with anyone with COVID-19. ?Nevertheless, in the spirit and caution associated with COVID-19 practice of social distancing Belmont Observatory is closed to visitors and RAC members. ?This also extends to the RAC equipment loan program as I do not have the resources to sanitize equipment being loaned out or returning from a loan. ?
I believe that the probability on contracting COVID-19 by continuing operations at Belmont Observatory as normal is low. ?Nonetheless, to keep us all safe and healthy, I thought this is the best approach.
Sincerely, Scott Busby Belmont Observatory Spotsylvania, Virginia #BelmontObs

Ok. Email came threw at 10 last night. Wasn’t calling you that late. I’ll be out this afternoon? ? Try again today maybe. ?You can just drop by and go straight out to the shed which you can see from the drive in. ?If I see you I’ll come out. ?If I miss you, go ahead and work up an estimate and then email it to me with your phone number.
Scott Busby Belmont Observatory Spotsylvania, Virginia @BelmontObs
Yes sir. Sorry. Been super busy. I can run out tomorrow afternoon or Sunday. Let me know what works for you? ? Hey Troy any chance you could give me an estimate on re-roofing my 10x16 shed?

MSRO Station 3 operational and online-first light images
Dear RAC,
With all of us required to stay at home until the virus runs it's course-now might be a good time to consider remote observing at MSRO-which is available at no charge to RAC members. Station 3 is now online and operational. Its the simplest station to use and an excellent way to get into remote imaging. I have enclosed some images of it, as well as the first two astrophotos taken using it. If anyone would like to try imaging-send me a reply stating your interest.
Sincerely,
Myron Wasiuta

Hey Myron,
? I’d like to give it a go. ? Interested in trying to image C/2019 Y4 (Atlas). ?Curious as to why your using a diagonal in this config?

Re: MSRO Station 3 operational and online-first light images
Glenn is correct. The diagonal allows the scope to fit in all possible aiming locations. At the end if processing just mirror reverse the image to correct it for a correct view.?
Scott you will need to install TeamViewer on your computer. Once you do i will forward the connection password.?

Re: MSRO Station 3 operational and online-first light images
Looks like next clear night will be Thursday. Lets plan on imaging Atlas. Others are welcome to observe with us. You can use same ID and Password that i will send out. Just don’t touch your mouse once you connect. Your screens will be live which means any mouse clicks on active buttons will produce actions at the observatory. We can have only one lead observer “ driving” at a time.?

Hi All,
I have never had the privilege of attending the NEAF or NEAIC events hosted by the Rockland Astronomy Club, but they are apparently exceptional. ?Looks like no one will be attending this year for obvious reasons. ?However, while the primary event has been rescheduled, they are doing a virtual event on Saturday April 4th. ?Since cancellation, very little has been available as far as schedule, but I expect there will still be various presentations, equipment introductions, etc. ?It might be worth taking a peek, and it is a freebie.
Stay safe,
Dave Bentz
