Re: Earliest example of Manhattan construction?

If you follow the foot notes
?
There is a series QST, April thru September 1974 with a voltmeter and cut pattern for "Learning to work with Semiconductors".

?
The April issue leads to QST May 1973 with a neat twist "Isolated-Pad Circuit-Board Construction" with a mention of buying to tool from the author's son. Vector Electronics Company part no P116 or P138.

?
And finally end up with ham radio August 1971 and "low-cost instant printed-circuit boards" The end of the article has a nice hint I've used before from a YouTube video -
One other circuit board hint: After the circuit board is cut to size and its copper?
surface is cleaned and polished with steel wool or household cleanser, spray the?
surface with a thin coat of Krylon. The copper surface will stay bright for life and?
solder will still wet the board as if the Krylon were not there.?
no link, sorry. Used my own copy to look it it.
