You might want to look at the schematics of the 1W and 5W series retired from KitsAndParts.com and see how they are used.? I also got Diz to use the 3-pin 2.54mm female headers for sockets, just in case.? And the screw+bolt to hold the heat sink saves a lot of head scratching. I have a 5W for 20m sitting here on my desk awaiting an order for 2SC5706s from another vendor.? Didn't see Mike's way down the order form. Sorry Mike. I'll check the real ones and then check for fakes.? I'm thinking 14MHz is good enough to test for my needs. Speaking of fakes.? I use a component tester to check the box of transistors for h_FE.? That is necessary but not sufficient for a good test. Anyone Manhattan up this test fixture?? I will when I get through the ADC-40. Maybe some has already been there and done that and give us a report. Just to see how high the critters will go from China. <>? h_FE test fixture.? Use with a digital VFO to sweep for DC to 100MHz or so.? That's my plan.? What's yours? FYI chuck, aa7fo BTW.? The 2SC5706 will survive a 'I forgot to hook up the antenna situation', at least in a 1W or 5W.? I can't say the same for a 2N2222 or BS170. On 3/30/25 11:23, davidgeorgerichards via groups.io wrote:
I notice that Kits and Parts have a good quantity of the through-hole version of the 2SC5706. I think the through-hole version of this transistor is now obsolete, which is why I'm interested. I'm attempting a scratch-build of a 2N2 for 20M, and wondering if this transistor would be a suitable replacement for the 2SC5739 final? Either way, it looks as if it could be useful for QRP PA's. |
