Got a Michigan Mighty Mite board from the QRP Guys and is going though his junk box to see what parts he may need to order. Ernie is still looking at that the PERformer Antenna and how to add weight to stabilize the tripod. Here are articles that has some info on elevated radials: Jean in France could not get the audio to work. We all hope he can join us next time. We talked about the new Yaesu QRP radio and the rumors about it.? One rumor was that it has the same receiver front end as the FTDX10 receiver and will have similar capability which ranks highest on the Sherwood list. The agenda for the 10 April QRP Chat:
During the open forum anyone can take the floor. We will go one by one until all have had a chance to have the floor. Files, pictures and presentations can be shared if you have any. Please try to stay muted when someone has the floor. Thanks Ed AB8DF |

Re: Updated (and final) Version of T41 book
Hi Greg: Al and I are having dinner together tonight to talk about that very thing. I have a couple of add-ons for the T41 and I'll find out Al's plans later tonight. I also have a non-programming, non-ham radio book in mind, too. I did want to thank you for all your contributions over the years...they have been invaluable! Jack, W8TEE

Updated (and final) Version of T41 book
All: Al and I have just updated the 3rd edition T41 book. We moved the calibration info from Appendix C to its own chapter (20). The expanded instructions and new software make T41 calibration much easier. We have also updated the narrative in numerous places and have concentrated discussions on the V12.6 release where those changes are important. Some of you are asking yourself: Do I need to buy this update. Truthfully, if you already own the 3rd edition, we would say no. Most of the important changes are discussed on the web site and photos and schematics are available there, too. On the other hand, this is the last change we will be making to this book. Al and I have been at this for almost 7 years now and we're getting a little burned out. For that reason, we are turning this site over to Oliver King, KI3P, and Dr. Bill Schmidt, K9HZ. Al and I will continue to be active relative to the T41, but will leave the details to Oliver and Bill. If you do want the final version of the book, its new cover looks like this: The book is actually available now, but
the Amazon ad will not reflect the new cover for about 10 more days.
(If you order now, it will be the new version.) If you are attending
the FDIM conference this May (coincides with Dayton Hamvention and
the conference hotel is about 10 miles away), Al and I will be
selling autographed copies on Thursday night (May 15th) at
the conference hotel starting around 8PM. We have reduced the price
of the autographed copies from $12,500 to $40...which is a deal and
less than the Amazon price! If you have a previous copy of the book,
bring it along and we will be happy to sign it.
This has been a fun project and we want to thanks the hundreds of people have contributed to its improvement over time. We hope that continues long after Al and I are gone.

Re: matching 6 m 2 element Yagi
just an update. I made the 1/7 wave stub again and fixed it to the Yagi. By adjusting the length of radiator and director I ended up with a resonance at 50.190 and 50 Ohms. SWR is below 1.5 from 50.08 to 50.350 so perfect for CW and FT8 The antenna is up 10 m now and reports for a station abt. 80 km away are abt. 10 db better than on the? 1 element quad.? As the signal is not stable it is difficult to get exact figures but F/B is around 2 S units and at 90 ° its even less. So that looks like a good? match with the expected performance.

Re: AX1
We rented a condo in Harbor Towers in Oct and one of the elevators was out as was the air conditioning, except for the first floor hallway. (??) There was still a lot of debris on sidewalks, especially on side streets. One huge condo complex had over 100 appliances (washers, dryers, fridges, etc.) piled up for removal. We still had a good time, but the people who live there got hammered. Jack, W8TEE
