Re: Help Identify Kit

Good observation, but I did not provide you with enough details. The ICs are wrapped in foil, not visable in the photo. The 6-pin IC has to be from something else, he had various unassembled kits, stuffed into the same bag. The XTALs are there. I need to do an inventory, but first...

I searched for a manual for this. Came up with some, but my board is slightly different from all the manuals I found online. I just joined the SWKits on groups.io. Will be posting there to see if I can come up with the correct manual. Interesting little project.

My next CW practice session will be?March 23 at 15:00 EDT / 19:00 UTC on 20 meters.?Anyone and everyone is welcome. This practice is intended for operators who are new to CW or they need some practice. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW POOR YOUR CW IS. Mistakes are OK. Poor fists are OK. Slow speed is OK. Really slow speed is OK. This practice is meant for you to improve your CW. I will do my best to adjust to your skill level. Operate at any power level. If several stations show up, I will operate as a round-table control station. I will do it as a round-table so everyone gets a chance to transmit. Please listen to my directions.

Details:
Date - March 23 2025
Time - 15:00 EDT ?19:00 UTC
Band - 20 Meters

How to find me - I will find a clear frequency and call CQ. Go to the Reverse Beacon Network and search for my call sign AB8DF.

That will tell you what frequency I am on. Tune your station to that frequency and if you hear me give me a call. If there is a QSO in progress, please wait for a break in the action. Then send your callsign. If I hear you, I will invite you to join the QSO and start a round-table QSO.

Reply to this email if you have questions.

Tell me about it. I got my ticket 72 years ago and it seems like that was a blink of an eye. The purpose of Time is to keep everything from happening at once. It's not working...

Now that you mention it, he did have some QRP Labs kits and I know for a fact he never assembled them. But I did not come across any when I was going through his stuff. It looks as if this it what it is - https://www.flickr.com/photos/kb1awv/2389758695/in/photostream 73, Richard AG5M

Re: Help Identify Kit

No, not sure it is complete. I'm sure there were extra parts from something else in the bag. Another Ham mentioned it is, or might be, an NE4040 designed by NN1G (now K1SWL) and in QST Nov 1994. I'll look in QST. 73, Richard AG5M

MI QRP Club Zoom Chat

开云体育

We had fourteen folks join the MI QRP Zoom Chat on 20 March. Please join us Thursday March 27 (and every Thursday) at 4PM Eastern for the Michigan QRP Club weekly QRP Chat where the main topics will be QRP and other ham interests. New hams are encouraged to participate and ask questions. It's fun, it's easy, and it's free. You only need a computer, a smart phone, or a tablet that can connect to the Internet. OR if you can't be close to any of those you can join by audio with any standard phone. Just follow the directions below. No software needs be loaded or installed. Anyone can join and non members are welcome. Details are here:
Zoom ID; 811 0835 6229

The topic for Thursday, 27 March will be Antenna Construction Techniques.

Pete WK8S
Ed AB8DF
Ernie NE3TE
Tony W8CDC
Stan WB8QJZ
Casey KC9IH
John M7FZC
Stuart M0SGV
Yvon AE7YD
Scott KJ7LNA
Jerry KI4Ox
N9NL Neil
JJ W8AJV
Mark KX8XX

New ID number will be 811 0835 6229. This ID should be good going forward.

Scott is a relatively new ham. He likes building stuff more than operating and is currently working on a small manual tuner. It uses fixed capacitors that are switched rather than the more typical polyvaricon variable capacitors. it is modeled after a VK3YE, Peter Parker, tuner.

Ernie has a new callsign NE3TE . He picked it because it has a very low CW call weight.

Jerry long time QRPer and is into building more than operating. He is building a beacon monitor out of an old military rig. Ed showed how the NCDXF/IARU beacon project works. . He recently work some rare DX while operating POTA.

Ernie and Pete are discussing the PERformer vertical antenna which use elevated radials.

Stuart is working on a Michigan Mighty Mite. He wanted to know what would be a good receiver to go along with it Ed suggested a MRX-40 Mini receiver.
Pasted Graphic.tiff

Scott has a HB receiver based on the Tayloe detector that he thinks would be good.

It is Ernie’s birthday today. HAPPY BIRTDAY

John working on his CW skills and is building a Rooster transceiver but waiting on some eye surgery to get more into building.

Yvon purchased a used Xiegu x5105.
Both his Xiegu 6100 and 5105 have issues he needs to fix.

Ed is looking at putting a 30 meter antenna together. It is a sloped W8JK.
Pasted Graphic 1.tiff

Mark is new to the chat. He recently sold his KX1 for an IC705.?

The agenda for the 27 March QRP Chat:
  1. Ernie to do a short introduction and acknowledge any new folks to the Zoom chat.
  2. Next week will be on Antenna Construction Techniques.

During the open forum anyone can take the floor. We will go one by one until all have had a chance to have the floor. Files, pictures and presentations can be shared if you have any. Please try to stay muted when someone has the floor.

Thanks
Ed
