Re: ceramic alignment tools
In the case of the QCX,

it's only required for adj of C1. Any non conducting tool is suitable, there should be little resistance to movement with a trimmer cap. A nylon tool with a snug fitting blade or one with a brass blade embedded should be fine. What you don't want is to use is a common screwdriver which will act as it's own antenna / add your body to the front end tuned circuit.... At a pinch a pared down match stick or chop stick is a suitable substitute. FYI, While Draper do some professional quality tools, their expert range tend to be perhaps one level above their budget types and often produced in the far east and rebranded, you may find similar ones available in your locale just carrying another brand name on the internet sales sites..... I was looking at ones on Amazon and eBay. The ones I saw are not expensive but I would prefer quality if possible. I have some ancient alignment tools that I bought from Radio Shack back in the early 80's but they are not ceramic. Alan On Fri, 05 Jul 2019 21:24:23 -0400, Terry VK5TM <vk5tm@...> wrote:

My experience is, if there is any resistance to turning in the core, the ends snap off. You also have to make sure the end of the ceramic tool is a snug fit in the adjustment hole/slot otherwise, same thing, the end will break off. -- Terry VK5tm www.vk5tm.com ( ) |

I just watched a great video on the QCX by Hans Summers. In the video Hans is using a Draper "Expert" 2.6 x 15mm Ceramic Blade to align the rig. What do you folks recommend for the most bang for the buck on purchasing some ceramic alignment tools? What is your experience? Alan, N8WQ |

Looked around a little. L15 appears to be Ferrite with initial permeability between Fair-Rite 43 and 31. Choke, Guanella, Balun Ferrite material used is US is often Fair-Rite 43 or 31. John KN5L On 7/5/19 4:18 PM, k6whp wrote:

Re: 2N2-40+ QRP-Transceiver, troubleshooting
Wolfgang,
I've added photos of my rig and the waveforms at the locations that matter in the VFO section. They were measured with a Rigol DS2202E Scope using a 10X probe. One thought that I had is to make sure that the Norton RF Amplifier is amplifying, not oscillating. If the 1-turn emitter winding is incorrect, it won't amplify, but oscillate like a banshee. You might want to disconnect the VFO output from everything else until you get that working correctly. 72/73 and good luck, Jim, K8IQY |
Re: Kanga LCK transceiver kit
I had a similar experience when I acquired a still unopened Howes VFO kit. I knew the model number, and that it was from England, but not much else.
I sent a request to the G-QRP people and the group was able to find and e-mail me the assembly instructions for it. The kit turns out to be from about 35 years ago, and on assembly it (still) works quite well. Another demonstration of how well amateurs work together to promote the hobby. I am now a G-QRP member - thanks! 72 de Gary W0ITT |

Re: Kanga LCK transceiver kit
Hello to all,
I'm impressed by the amount of interest to my question. I have got now all the information for building the kit. Many thanks to Mark, Paul, Neil, Oliveira and especially to Michael who sent me the copy of the manual. This is real ham spirit! Have a nice day, 73's Claude, HB9CGL |

Have you verified that your local oscillator is putting out a signal with another receiver or oscilloscope? I would start there first. On my back burner project list is the desire to build the same transceiver. It is a nice project. It is best to test each stage of your project one at a time before you move to the next stage. It will save a lot of stress and hair pulling, lol. Alan, N8WQ On Thu, 04 Jul 2019 06:08:50 -0400, <dl2ki@...> wrote:
