Up until beginning of summer skcc had quite a run using spectrum typically 50 khz up from bottom edge. Of course, we are the cw amish who don't use electronic keys, or choose to pound brass for sake of community. Many qrp ops you recognize are skcc active. I think it is summer and low solar flux, as often 40m only has spotlight paths.
On ft8, it seems to be many big guns who aren't finding cw activity. Some of these dudes will run 3 bands at once. At least they aren't hogging much spectrum.
CW ain't played out. We have more than 8000 QCX rigs. Just a little propagation will bring some ops. Skcc is doing decent in incubating some new ops.
