Hi

I just installed QLog (MS WIndows) for the first time and have it working for both rig and rotor control using hamlib. Logs have been imported from LOG4OM and everything appears to be set up and working OK.

I? have a couple of questions perhaps someone can help me with:

1. Is there a way to center the circle map in rotator control on my own QTH. It seems to be centered on south America - I'm in Australia?

QLog should center the circle based on the current gridsquare in your station profile. But it seems that there is an issue under certain circumstances. I'll check it and prepare a fix. It seems that there is no issue when the rotator is shown on the online map.

2. Can rig control and rotor control be configured to automatically connect at program start up?

I don't remember why I didn't put it there. I'll try to think about it, but I can add it as a Rig setup option.
?

I know QLog is young but first impressions are very good. Congratulations!

Cheers

Yes, I went through a process of assessing all the major loggers on the market and felt this one was the best mix of modern design¡ªwhich is very scare in this market¡ªand features.?

Looking forward to the future of the tool! 73

Re: Ad hoc contest feature as suggestion

Robert,

I can say from my own experience that I used the comment field as an exchange, but unfortunately, it's not that convenient, especially when you need auto-increment.?
I understand Dave's request, but creating a good contest log is really a long-term development. And most importantly, the change will significantly affect the design of the GUI.

Ladislav

Dave,

Could you use the comment field to store the STX information?? Then after you export the log you could just edit the lines with the STX and add the fields to those log entries.

Re: Ad hoc contest feature as suggestion

Hi Dave,

It's an area I get asked about a lot. I also like to participate in contests, so I would welcome that as well. However, there are several mental barriers preventing its implementation in QLog:

  1. QLog was initially defined as a non-contest log.
  2. While adding a couple of fields for exchange isn't problematic, I fear it won't stop there. We'll likely need to export to several contest formats (EDI, Cabrillo, etc.).
  3. If we support adding fields for Exchange and Export QSO, why not consider adding Voice Macros? I've already received such a request.
  4. If Voice Macros are included, we can't overlook calculating points together with multipliers. Every contest is different therefore it will be needed to create a pseudo-language to define contest rules.
  5. Exchange can contain more than just a serial number; it also includes a special area, ITU/CQZ zones, etc. We'll need to define Value-Lists for these "special" exchanges and, most importantly, keep them up-to-date.
  6. There are special contests with stages and various restrictions (10-minutes rule etc).

These are just some of the considerations for implementation. If we start with the exchange fields then QLog can become N1MM.

We can open the data discussion, whether I am wrong and if my ideas are too complicated.

Regards

Ladislav

I know that QLog isn't a contest logger, and I'm happy with that. However I find myself working stations in a contest, while not participating myself and having to give away serial numbers. A useful feature would be like the one provided by CQRlog which when in contest mode allocates STX and records contest name until you turn the feature off. Full description here:?

Just a suggestion.

Hello Robert,

Many thanks. I do my best to make QLog useful.

I would answer your question. It is necessary to distinguish which services are designed as QSL-exchange services and which are Online Logs. And that is the case of the mentioned services. The QRZ service isn't primarily a QSL service. That means confirmation from this service isn't officially recognized as a QSL. On the other hand, LoTW (eQSL) and Paper QSL are valid QSL methods. So, if you see LoWT, eQSL and Paper in the QSL tab of the QSO Detail tab, then it should indeed be there. If you want to see if you've uploaded a particular QSO to QRZ, then I recommend adding this column to the QSO listing window.

Good morning,

I just installed QLOG 0.32 via the Ubuntu PPA.? I got everything configured and really enjoyed using it last night.?

I used the software to upload my logs to both LOTW and QRZ.? If I then click on a log entry that has been uploaded followed by clicking on the QSL tab it shows the log has been uploaded to LOTW but there is no place for QRZ.? The tab lists paper, LOTW, and eQSL.? Is that by design or am I missing something?

Thanks

Re: How to remove window tabs?

I recommend defining your own layout and saving your layout before any further manipulation using "Save Arrangement" .

For more details, please, read QLog' wiki -

Otherwise, it is very easy to move tabs. Drag the tab and move it to where it is needed. See attached screenshot.

I somehow managed to make the right default windows - tabbed. All I need is the Time & Online Map stacked in one single column

How do I undo the changes? Tried couple of drags and drops without any success. Any way to reset the layout?
