Howdy Hounds, I will be a fox for the 80 meter hunt Thursday evening from 0100z until 0230z hiding in the North Georgia woods.between 3.5050 MHz and 3.5070 MHz .along with Tony KT0AA who will be hiding in the MO woods. Most of the time I will be calling: "CQ FOX K4PQC UP" as I am having some noise problems please spread out between 1 and 2 KHz higher than my calling frequency. If I don;t call "up" please try not to zero beat my frequency, go to one side or the other of my calling frequency, so that hounds can hear who I am calling.... more pelts will be handed out this way. Good evening hounds, I’m planning to operate from the 80m Woods tomorrow night, along with Phil K4PQC, from 8:00 to 9:30 PM CST (Fri, 3/28/2025, 01:00-02:30 UTC). You’ll find me somewhere between 3.550-3.570 MHz, listening 1-2 kHz above my transmit frequency, running a Kenwood TS-590SG at 5w output into a full-wave 80m horizontal loop up 30ft. At some point during the hunt, if I’m rarely hearing any stations calling, I will stop running split and operate simplex. You’ll know when that happens because I’ll stop sending “UP” after my CQ. Please do not zero-beat me while running simplex, rather call me 200-400 Hz above or below my transmit frequency. I’m only stating these things for those who may be new and/or unaware here. I will be pinch hitting for Dan N7CQR tonight, I will be opposite Randy NC4RT. By now you all know the drill, Randy and I will be lurking somewhere between 7.030 and 7.050 Mhz. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, will be to find us and complete the proper information in exchange for a pelt. I will be working split to start off and will be indicating that by the word "UP" after my CQs. If things go badly and there's lots of QRM, I'll resort to simplex and you'll notice that I am not sending "UP" anymore. Please spread out a bit and don't all pile up in one spot. I'll be making liberal use of my RIT knob. One last thing. Take a breathe! Please don't send your call 90 times in a row without a break! Call twice (at the most) and stop to listen! Hounds who non-stop send their calls just slow things down. If I can hear you, I'll come back to you, I promise! The set up here will be my KX3 to my 80 - 10 EFRW at 30 feet. I am submitting a revised log for last night's contest. I hope the Scorekeeper will give AK1P credit for his QSO with me. - I distinctly remember making that QSO - It occurred during the "hot and heavy" portion of the hunt - There is a clear gap in my log during the time his log shows the qso Apologies for the confusion. I do not know how it came to be unrecorded. I do recall having to work a bit to copy the call of the next qso in line, albeit not an extreme case. Perhaps I failed to hit the Enter key after working Paul, and then typed over it? Thanks for all for a fun time last night. There were perhaps a few "forever callers" but they did not hold me up much... I just tuned away a bit. We did have some POTA activity above and below me which limited my ability to spread the pack out. But thankfully we had a kc or two to work with. I'm told K7GO was trying mightily to get through at the end. I could hear some code out there Lew, but never enough to copy a character, even your "7". I’ve just updated the QRPFOXHUNT contest history file for N1MM with one fix & a few new hounds added. There are two ways to get the new file. One way is to get it via running the QRPFOXHUNT contest setup in N1MM software & selecting the Associated Files tab. Then click Change for the “Call History Filename” and download it. The other way is to log into www.k4oaq.com/fox & go to Admin / N1MM UDC File and click “Call History File” button to download. Fritz K4OAQ
