Thanks for the fun, Wayne! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I was able to gather as many pelts last night as I caught through the entire summer season.
?
While I'm at it, thanks to all the foxes and hounds. Fox hunting has become one of my favorite ham radio activities and I appreciate all you folks do to make it possible.

Larry:

Well thanks for coming back for a QSO. Your signal was very QSB, but we
got it done. 20 was not too great this evening, as it has been lately.
Seemed to be either super loud, or ESP level. I will be quite interested
in seeing the others' logs for the outing. Again, thanks for hanging in to
get it done. Have a terrific holiday weekend.

A big hand to the Foxhunt Committee and all the Foxii !!

I had the immense pleasure of working the following Foxii tonight:

N?UR, W?NTA, AC7A, W5KDJ, K?EVZ, and N1FN. I didn't expect to even hear
W1RT, K3ESE, or N3BJ as they're just too close for 20 Meters. However,
listen as I might, I did not hear Dan N7CQR.

It was a fun summer season; and I pass along my most sincere thanks to
the organizers and the quarry.

Normally, I can't stand Autumn and Winter as they are my least favorite
seasons. The Winter Foxhunts take the edge off!

John:

Well I eventually worked 37 hunters (raw count only, may be a dupe or two
in there), so the band was not too lively, for sure. And nearly all of
them were in the first hour. Some signals were 599++, but some were
essentially ESP levels or below. So it will truly be interesting to see
how the other FOXes/Alternates did.

Fox: FOXTRAVAGANZA ! ! !

You say you miss the Summer Fox Hunt already,
Bunky...? Don't know what to do with yourself on a
Thursday evening? Well, here's something for next
week, (right after the QRP Barbershop Contest on
Wednesday):

There will be a 20M QRP Foxtravaganza on Thursday,
September 1st (Friday UTC) from 9-10:30EDT, or
0100-0230Z.

There will be many Foxii - don't know how many,
yet...more later - and they will all be somewhere
between 14.050 - 14.070. The Foxii may QSY at will.
Unlike last time, there will be only one opportunity
for a Pelt from each Fox during the 'ganza.

The Foxii will be posting their logs to QFOX...to
sign up, just go to and fill
in your email at the bottom of the main page...it's
that easy! (QFOX is the wave of the future for Fox
activity...!)

It's rare to have such an opportunity for snagging
Peltii, so c'mon down!

Season Finale

Hi, Guys--

Now that was one bizarre Fox Hunt. They are always different, but this was one
for the books.

I deliberately pointed the beam every whitchaway, but not a peep
out of OK, NM, or AZ. Lloyd was very strong here all evening and we actually
worked direct at one point-- sort of a point of pride or something-- we don't
need no steenkin automatic qso's [g].

It was a very strange hunt, in some ways the easiest that I have done
because it was spread out. It was like propagation would be there for 5
or 6 minutes and then go away for 5 or 6. Apart from the very first qso I
don't think I ever heard more than 2 or 3 stations calling at the same
time, and I was calling CQ frequently in the first half hour.

Last week I spent most of the 90 minutes listenting to static. Didn't
hear a peep out of either fox, and only heard a couple of hounds from time
to time. So I guess this was an improvement.

First pass at poking up the log is done and my rough count is 62; should be
able to post it later today with a bit of luck.

Many thanks to everybody who participated. And I'd appreciate suggestions for
what to do next week when I get the shakes and the fever from withdrawal!

Re: penultimate Summer FOX: K3ESE

W.D. (Doc) Lindsey

Lloyd:

Well I will be using a brand spanking new K2 this evening! Please give me
a holler if you hear it. Haven't had a brand new one for a long time.
Someone had already mostly assembled it, but it needed considerable
technical work and a LOT of TLC to be set right. Dick W0NTA worked on it
for a couple of weeks. He had to order a couple of hundred bucks' plus
worth of parts from Elecraft, set the filtres, etc.and then sent it to me.
It arrived two evenings ago. Gotta tell ya, it is simply FABULOUS in every
way. The receiver is simply fabulous and the CW filtres are just perfect
to my taste. So....I am rarin' to go [g].

Now if only the conditions will cooperate for a change! Oh, and I will be
using one of the W5GI so-called "mystery antennas" as an inverted vee with
the centre up only 30' or so. That will also be brand new, so my fingers
(and toes!) are crossed, let me tell ya!

Good luck everyone for both pelts tonite. I have missed a whole bunch of
them this summer, some due to calendar conflicts, but some due to poor
conditions. Let's all hope for GREAT condx for a change. And for LLOYD
and ET, let's hope both of them set personal records!

73,

Last Hurrah!

Tomorrow evening is the end of the Summer 20M QRP Fox Hunt and I will have
the pleasure of being one of your foxes. It's been an interesting season
with a lot of bizarre ups and downs for most of us. I'd like to go out
with a bang, of course, but thats up to the gods of propagation. And you!

It would be a great opportunity to try your hand at fox hunting if you
haven't before, and if you want all the details you'll find them at
.

I'll be operating from my home QTH in Aurora (near Denver) CO and will be
alternating between a C4 beam and a vertical. So if you have trouble
hearing me try again later and you might find I've rotated toward you.

Good luck! And may the Fox be with you...
