As Tim mentioned, I will also be hiding in the 80m woods, transmitting somewhere between 3.550-3.570 MHz and listening up 1-2 KHz. If the QSO rate slows down enough or band conditions go sour, I will switch to simplex operation.
I will be running a TS-590SG at 5w output into a 80m horizontal loop up 30ft, but switching to a Gap Challenger DX vertical from time to time. QTH is St. Peters, MO, EM48qs.

NO – it wasn’t you at all.? You are the FOX – you run the show.? The issue was that when you would reply to someone there were a few hounds running simplex that were still sending.? It was near impossible to tell who you were calling for most exchanges.? There were a couple of times I thought you might be calling me so I sent my call again and heard nothing.
It had nothing to do with you at all. ?Radio is a HOBBY.? Fox Hunting is a GAME.? It just wasn’t that important to me to keep trying.?

All absolutely true.? And the activator (FOX) controls the pile-up.? They get to run it the way they want to run it.? They decide when they run split or simplex.? None of the hounds know the reason the FOX went simplex so early.? It doesn’t matter.? The FOX controls the pile-up.? Period. And I am certain I could not have done better.
I wasn’t complaining.? It was my decision to turn the radio off and go watch TV.? The way the pile-up was running the FOX was reporting 599 to the hounds.? The band wasn’t very good for me; I was hearing the FOX maybe 439.? I could not hear who the FOX was replying to, every time the FOX replied to someone’s call sign there were still hounds calling on top of the FOX.?
There may have been a better chance of the FOX was split, at least I could have heard who the FOX was calling.? But I didn’t figure there was much chance of me getting in the log.? And I’m just not obsessed with this enough to sit for an hour plus trying.
FWIW, the TV wasn’t much better……. But time spent with the wife is special even if I don’t care for the Hallmark Channel!? ?.

Well.....from the responses I am getting, I didn't do as good of a job as I thought. I guess I'll go back to the drawing board and figure it out. In the meantime, if there is an error in the log let me know.

For what it's worth, I had no trouble copying/working Scott with an ancient HW-16 paired with an outboard audio filter.
