I’ll be one of your two foxii in the 80-meter hunt on Thursday evening, January 23rd (January 24th GMT date), along with Fritz (K4OAQ) in TN. Look for me to be handing out pelts from Athens, GA between 0200 and 0330Z and between 7030 and 7050 kHz. I’ll be running a Yaesu FTDx10 turned down to 5W into an OCF Dipole up 24'. I plan to post dots to the Fritz map () so you can check your QSO, as long as technology cooperates. I will start running split, up +1, and most likely will change to simplex once the pileups settle down.

Exchange is the usual RST SPC Name PWR (RST GA SCOTT 5W). I will repeat your call at the end of my exchange, so PLEASE be sure that I got it right before sending your full exchange. This will be my very first time operating as the Fox, so patience and kindness toward me will be most appreciated. I look forward to handing out my very first pelts from the woods of Northeast Georgia.

Up here in SE Wisconsin I heard K9DRP a solid 599 and he is about 300 miles south.
I called and called but no luck. ?K4PQC was 549 559 with QSB. I called and called and decided I was just QRM so I went back at it after about 30 minutes and snagged him. K4PQC had one heck of a pileup and he had a challenge for sure picking calls out of the pileup. ? NK9G

K4PQC Preliminary Log for 40 Meters 1-22-2025

Well, this was interesting? QRN was pretty bad and I lost use of the antenna when the SWR went sky high.? A few amps of 120 VAC took care of the icing on the wire.? It didn't help to schedule my turn as a Fox during a snowstorm.? To the folks who live in the South like me; it's more like a blizzard only a couple of inches but snow nevertheless.? Ops who have a dipole can't do what I did with my loop to shed the ice in a matter of a couple of minutes at 0255z. I was lucky to make the number of QSO under these trying conditions.? I am just sorry that I couldn't hand out more pelts.

Please let me know if there are any issues with the log and thanks for your patience.

Looks good.? My radio set up always starts with the low area on RX 1 and the high area on RX 2.? I found you both on the waterfall almost immediately.? But it took me a while to hit the Low-Fox.? Then I moved over to you (swapped frequencies) and had you in a couple of calls.

K9DRP fox announcement for Tuesday, JAN 21

I’ll be one of your two foxii on 40 meters Tuesday night, along with Phil, K4PQC, in Georgia. ?I'll be operating from "The Banks of the
Wabash" near Marshall, Illinois between 0100Z and 0230Z and within +/- 10Khz of 7.040 MHz. ?I’ll be running my Argo V throttled down to 5 watts into an EFHW up 50 ft. with an East-West broadside, and to an OCF up 40 ft. with a North-South broadside.
?
I will (hope to) be posting QSOs to the Fritz map ( using ACLog on Linux, so you can check the status of your pelt.
?
I will be listening up 1 to 2 so take advantage of that range. ?I doubt that I will run simplex, unless things get awful slow.? However, I will listen nearer to my transmit frequency for the last 30 minutes so that the old rigs without split capability can use RIT to make the contact.? My exchange will be <Your Call> RST IL Don 5W <Your Call>. ?I will expect the usual RST SPC Name PWR from you.
?
I hope to give out pelts from coast to coast!
?
Good luck and happy hunting!
