Take note guys-for the first 70 minutes of the hunt I sent ¡®up¡¯ as part of my CQ fox message. It was only after very little success that I reverted to simplex. And-even when that happens the smart callers still spread out a bit. I¡¯ve been a fox since 1994 so not my first rodeo¡it was plain and simple the high noise issues I had that created the problem-not my operating technique.?

It might not rise to the ¡°life or death¡± level but Hound or Fox¡all can benefit and learn from feedback.?

Mostly I agree.? This is JMHO¡¡.? IF - I have not gotten a FOX when they are split ¨C when they go simplex I usually walk away.? It is too difficult to pick out who the FOX is calling when 6 hounds are still calling-calling-calling right on top the FOX.? But then, this is just a game, not an obsession.? At least not to me anyway.? If I miss a FOX, I¡¯ll still get to sleep in my bed that night and the sun will still rise in the East tomorrow.
Somebody said you need to hear them if you want to work them.? It is what it is.

My thoughts,
Certainly?there would have been more Qs had Dan sent up OR down...? My problem was that many were trying to Zero beat Dan's frequency and I couldn't tell if I was being answered or not.? I'm sure?many others were thinking the same.? ?If Dan or any other fox sends a short CQ and the hounds?are right on top of the fox sending their call 2 or 3 times there is no way anyone knows if they are being answered. Please think before you embarrass?yourself by putting your call on the air where it's not wanted.?

After reading all of this, I feel fortunate that I made it in at all.? I could tell Dan was struggling with my call, so I repeated each element twice at about 23-WPM and when done he sent RR.? Later I saw his request for stations to QRS¡. But by this time I believed he had me correct in the log.? Dan wasn¡¯t posting to the Fritz-Map, so I¡¯ll have to wait to see if I should have made an insurance contact or if it all came through.
It was a good night for 40m in Far West Texas.? I have some improvements to my antennas in mind, perhaps it will help.? Monoband close-coupled dipole just for 80m, then a fan dipole for 60m ¨C 40m ¨C 30m.

Dan, you were heard here in Parker, CO. at 559 or better throughout the entire hunt.? You may not have been able to hear us, but there was a huge pack of hounds chasing you throughout the night.? Conditions just were not good at your end.? Thanks for sticking in there until the bitter end.? Being in Colorado I had no trouble hearing not only you, but callers all the way out to the east coast.? A very strange night.

I was split for almost an hour with not hardly any success-so simplex was my only. Still calling¡.
?
A cacophony of noise with everyone hammering on simplex.. no "up"?? when there were more than enough caller to warrant split.
More like a DXpedition.? Not fun
But thank you for being a fox
