¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWell, and FWIW, I will often slip down to like 0.95 offset.? I have in the past seen foxes answering hounds down at like 0.6 offset, on a wide filter you could hear the FOX and the HOUND on the main receiver.? I do not know that there is a ¡°RULE¡± for that.? If there is, I don¡¯t know of it.? I move around myself.? Sometimes I go a little lower than the lowest, sometimes I go a little higher than the highest.? Sometimes the waterfall shows a gap in the middle and I¡¯ll try to slip in there. Vy73 - Mike - KD5KC. El Paso, Texas - DM61rt. SOTA W5T-Texas Association Manager.

Besides having lots of QRN from the snow storm I am plagued?with line noise that raises the noise floor at least 20 dB from an S-1 or 2 to S-5 to 7.? What I did at the start was to narrow the band spread from 50+ kHz to 5 kHz.? The most obvious thing I first noticed was the ganging up in the lower 500 Hz of the 1 kHz window.? So, I started picking up callers on both the upper and lower edges thinking that Ops would get the hint to spread out.? I use my diversity option on the receiver but this doesn't help when?folks are on top?of one another.? I also use the B receiver to monitor my own frequency sometimes just to advise callers that are out of "band" but, I didn't need to do this last evening.? ?One thing I did notice was that there were several stations that were well below the 1 kHz QRPFox band.? Again I didn't answer these callers.? Was I wrong?? Are there hardened rules?? I am sure if I wasn't in the middle of a rare southern snow storm I could have handed out many more pelts.?? ? Again, thank you for your patience and allowing me to participate. ? 72/73 ? ,? Phil - K4PQC |
