Re: SIGNUP is OPEN for the DEC/JAN Bi-Monthly Print Exchanges

Hi Gary,

Well this weekend I planned to put my final touches to my January trip to?Hokkaido.
Serendipity?played a part in it being our coldest December nights/days in many years?here in the South of England.
Dropping to -7.5C and today it didn't get above 0C all day. I can't remember the last time that happened here in December, normally Jan or more likely Feb.

So I thought I would venture out and do a few camera tests in the cold, but once I got into the garden I realised we had a rare hoar frost and the scenery was rather more beautiful than I was expecting.

Anyway to cut to the chase I took some colour photos and after some easy prints, I think they are worthy of sending into the exchange.
So sign me up for colour dec/jan.? I plan to send 2 colour prints. One is rather cute....

Not sure any of them work better in B&W and I don't like to force the conversion.

I did also take out the IR converted GFX50 I have, and nothing really stood out.
Still a work in progress. One aspect I did appreciate was the shadows are naturally a lot softer in IR.
Lots to learn here.

Anyway glad I can take a small part in the exchange this time, will ship before I head off to Japan and yes we can sort out a mega return to me after the Feb 13 x 19 exchange.

Best,
Mike

Re: UPDATE: Oct/Nov prints

Between noon on Tuesday and 6pm on Wednesday we received 25 inches of snow at my house.? All across the Anchorage area snowfall records for a single storm were broken that have stood for over 20 years.

The streets in my subdivision were plowed this afternoon, so I was able to get to the Eagle River post office.? I mailed all of the packages of prints for participants in the US.? The Eagle River post office was jammed with people wanting to mail or pickup packages, so if this is any indication of how it is all across the USPS system, it may take a little longer than usual for your prints to arrive.

Jayanand & Nara:? I will mail the box with your prints tomorrow.

Mike: Let me know if you want to arrange for a DHL pickup of your prints now or wait until you are back in the UK from your trip to Japan.

There were many excellent B&W and color prints in this exchange!? I'm sure you'll agree they were worth the wait.

Re: UPDATE: Oct/Nov prints

Hi Gary,
?
Mike: I hope you have a great trip to Japan!? Look forward to seeing some images from your trip.

Thanks.

Middle part of my trip is a minimalist 10 day shoot in Hokkaido in the depths of winter.
So don't expect too much on the page!

Been to Japan many many times, but never in winter.
Inspired to do a Hokkaido shoot by Michael Kenna's Hokkaido images.

Let's see, winter can be fickle.?
My son is now in Tokyo for the next 5 years, so if it doesn't work this year, I'll try again.

Might try and shoot some cranes after the organized trip.

I assume there are still some folks here who would like to exchange larger size prints, so I am planning for that in February/March (in addition to the regular size exchanges).? Perhaps we will see some of Mike's Japan images in the bigger prints.

Yes I am 100%? in for bigger prints.?
I would do every?exchange with bigger prints if I could.
A2 is a good entry level size IMO :)
One of my struggles is making images work on A4.

Gary thanks for yet again sorting the exchange.

Best,
Mike
