Slater's Manning Wardle Wheels
开云体育For those of you that might be interested, I was
recently speaking with David White from Slater’s and he mentioned they have a
new wheel type they are doing for there Lynton & Barnstaple Manning Wardle
kit, the wheels themselves screw onto the axles. The subject came up because I
was asking David what they had available to better suit the backwoods Miniature
NGG-16 Garratt kit, from speaking with a number of people who have done this kit
the wheels and crank arrangement leaves a lot to be desired.
Below is a copy of David’s email to me in regards to
these new wheels,
?
“The total length of our
Lynton & Barnstable axle is 29.58mm the diameter of the axle between the
wheels is 3.175mm and the extensions are 2.48mm the square on the end is 1.69mm
A/F and the width of the squares are 1mm. We have two wheels of 2'9" that screw
onto? this axle, one 10 spoke and one 8 spoke. The crank for our L & B
loco kit is machined from steel, we could do an alternative crank in fact i do
not know why Backwood’s? did not ask us to do a proper set of wheels.
Probably a set of wheels properly engineered with the correct machined cranks at
about ?13.00 an axle is too expensive. Once you have studied these dimensions if
they are suitable we could have a look at doing a proper crank to
fit.
kind regards
David White”

开云体育Surprised they’re doing a Manning Wardle before they’ve released Lyn, or did you mean Baldwin?

开云体育They might be for Lyn, hence the reason they’re doing a 10 spoke version as
well as a 8 spoke version

Surprised they’re doing a Manning Wardle before they’ve released
