Backwoods - K1 Garratt

开云体育

Hi, I am currently building a K1 Garratt, I have studied Johns photos and articles in the NG&Industrial Reviews. I am currently building the chassis’s? have cut out and fitted the hornblocks with no problems – Question noting the extra mount to secure the motor to the frame. Are the hornblocks on the drive axle secured to ensure the cruciform stays secure on the motor shaft, Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated

?

Many thanks

?

Richard

I have been following this thread about KBScale not selling the Mashima motors, I would like to ask if anybody has tried Roxey Mouldings, I have been very happy with their service, I have mainly bought their kits and accessories for O gauge L&SWR.

Hi Marc
?
I have heard of them and I think Branchlines use them now for their 00n3 kits, the main problem is the mounting holes do not line up with you existing motors, so you may well find that you need to change this.
?
Hope this helps.
?
I hope I dont upset anyone but I have attached a sheet of motor details from Branchlines I got a couple of years ago.

Motor issue is a big problem most standard and NG loco apart from RTR use Mashima motors. We are producing our last 7mm standard gauge locomotives with them this month. After this point we are going to have to source motors then hopefully adapt our locomotives accordingly, if not it's the end of the line for our and most other loco kits.

The time spent doing this has stopped me doing any modelling for my self. I was hoping to have started my 0-14 layout this year but there we go.

Most of the items on their webpage are marked as "Temporarily n/a" (not available) and there have been only two new items on the "News" page since November 2014! Also he states he has no plans to attend any exhibitions!

Is this company shutting down?

Hi Guys
?
While I am not (as yet) an 014 modeller I just wanted to put out an appeal for expo-ng standard 014?exhibition layouts.
?
I think we have one for this year, but it appears we are a little bit light on O14?layouts for the future so if you have a layout which you?might like to be considered, please get in touch and I will pass your details on to Steve or Richard.

Re: Handbook

Hi Roy,

Roy,

Thanks, I will send him a message.

The handbook I have appears to have some supplementary sets but I don't know if it is complete.

BTW - It seems the young fellow from the forum, Jordan, has been busy getting married. I just heard back from him yesterday regarding the copy of your 'to the Ironstone'. It may actually make it across the pond someday! Hopefully before the convention.

I have been concentrating the last couple of months on creating a new dedicated train-room/workshop. 11' x 23'.

More later.

Regards,

Craig

Craig,
All the
updates and supplementary page sets went to KBscale. Unless
David Janes pulped them he should still have stocks of most,
if not all the items beyond the basic
handbook.

A quick note to say that the Wiltshire 009 group are hosting a skills day on 6th August in Pewsey and I will be flying the 7mm flag with have-a-go sessions for spiked track and can demo/help with Zamzoodled couplings.

Get there early to enjoy the fabled lardy cake
