Sorry, did not intend to send this to the entire group. Blame it on the stress of working with small fiddly card parts.

I suspect that, come January 2021, the owners of the rather good layouts that cross the English Channel (both ways) for exhibition from time to time will be thinking that your border control people are absolute saints. After nearly half-a-century of being in the “Common Market” they are seemingly about to learn what “taking back control” really means - and it has a very nasty ??? sting in the tail in addition to all the extra work involved.

Dream on. Mercian, Phil and Myself placed orders for over a 1000 wheels in each size and still nothing happened. At the last York show we even set his wife on him, which usually gets things done, but nothing happened. I suspect that he has recently found some of the last batch of axles which would account for him completing some orders and not others

I got some curly spoke 10.5mm from Colin (AG) a couple of months ago and he wasn’t able to fulfil all the order as I had cleared him out. Sorry! However, they seem fine.?

I think if you ring him and get to the end of the usually hilarious and tortuous voicemail message, he will ring back. A reasonable order would hopefully result in a batch coming off his production line.

Hi Frank
?
I think you’ll find it will just rip the centre out of the wheel spokes, they are very fragile. I was led to believe that Colin had sorted the problem as, after a two year + wait, I received a bulk delivery from him last October for my Port Wynnstay kits including “Curly” spoke wheels in the 10.5 mm diameter, whether he has fixed the other diameters yet I don’t know.

Paul,

Would a 2mm parallel reamer not sort this on a temporary basis if Colin will supply wheels and axles as separate items? Not suggesting you do them, but it wouldn't be a major task for any of us to do our own,

If I can shed a bit of light on the AG curly spoked wheel issue…..

?

There has been an availability issue for some time now and despite it not needing a massive amount of time to fix it doesn’t seem to be getting to the top of the to do list.?? The problem is that the latest batch of axles bought in, whilst in spec, were at the max diameter of acceptable. These worked with many of the wheels in the range but it would seem the pin in the mould that determines the axle hole in the curly spoke wheels is at the minimum end of the spec. In most of the wheels this sort of thing isn’t a problem, it just makes them a tighter fit on the axle. The curly spoke doesn’t have much of a boss in the middle and it instead tends to split.? The fix is a slightly larger pin in the mould. Not a long job but also clearly not seen as a priority.

?

I do have some in stock – mostly the larger ones I think. I would try nagging Colin for the bulk order I have had in for nearly two years now but then, awkwardly, he’d want paying which with EDM Models closed at the moment I don’t have the money for.

?

On the health front. After a couple of dodgy weeks dealing with infections and blood balances made more complicated by Covid19 I am now on the mend. [came out of hospital with a cough caused by the anaesthetic then gets an infection in the surgery causing a fever – well you can guess the conclusion the GP jumped to].? I am getting a bit better everyday and getting frustrated and what I can’t do. It’ll be a couple of weeks yet before I re-open EDM Models and make our website live again [the boss won’t let me jeopardise my recovery by doing it too soon] but my limited potterings at the moment are making some moves towards that day. I will add counting up the curly spokes and making sure they are on the website to the to do list
