If you look in the Wrightlines article in Review Issue 2, there is a photo at the top of page 47 showing the patterns.

All I can add to Allan's comments are that the only pertinent Wrightlines review I can find in the NG&IRM Review Index is about Wrightlines in general and doesn't mention VoR. The same copy (Review 4) with loco drawings in also has drawings of passenger stock.

Hi Sorin

?

Good to hear from you, and welcome. My brother lives in Romania, in a small village near Cimpulung in Arges, so it's a small world!

?

The book “Vale of Rheidol Light Railway” by C.Green (Wild Swan Publications 1986, ISBN 0 906867 43 6) has lots of very good pictures, but no drawings.?

?

Small drawings of both the original locos built in 1902, and the replacement locos built by the Great Western Railway in 1923, were published in "Railway Modeller" magazine for November 2014. Bigger and much more detailed drawings for the 1923 locos (which are the ones in use today) were published in "Narrow Gauge & Industrial Railway Modelling Review” magazine, ?issue 4, 1990 (ISBN 0958-0808). NG&IRRM is published by John Clutterbuck and Roy Link, who are members of this group. ?

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition

What about the Bagnall loco 'Rheidol'? As a 2-4-0T it would have a wider market than the big 2-6-2Ts. It ran on the Rheidol till 1923 having run. On the Hafan & Talybont. There is a small drawing in Boyd's book on NGR in Midwales ?and been modelled in larger scales.

I think the body masters were produced but the chassis and valve gear were proving to be a bit of a challenge. I am sure the masters were in a photo in an article about Wrightlines in an early NG&IRM Review.

Although it wasn’t a particular interest of mine, I do remember Kay telling me that she had someone producing masters for a white-metal kit of a VoR tank but that, even then (20 years ago?), not a lot seemed to be forthcoming. I suspect that the VoR tanks are not an easy subject to model.

Re: 21mm gauge wheel & track standards

David,

That looks like a noble start!

I have been using Fast Tracks templates in Sn3 for constructing my O14
turnouts and track.

Craig

I just wanted to thank Marc, Frank, Dave and John for your advice on
building points in 021mm gauge. I took something from all the suggestions,
which were all helpful.

Point building is not my forte but it's necessary in 021 and 014 for that
matter. This first one gave me practice and experience as well as meaning
I
have a short test track where I can try out the centre couplings. The rail
is recycled from GEM TT flexitrack I bought around 1977, I think it's code
95! So quite heavy but fine for this application and try buying rail by
post at present.

A photo attached. The chassis is from Mark Clark.

Thanks again guys,

David

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition

The last I heard about Kevin's proposed VoR loco kit was that almost all the progress he had made on artwork had been wasted because it was hand drawn and all the etching companies he trusted to do the job had switched to digital artwork exclusively.? In order to take things further Kevin was having to teach himself/learn how to use a CAD package.? This was going to take a little while.

I seem to remember that Wrightlines once promised a 7mm scale white-metal kit of this loco, but nothing ever came of it. And now that firm seems to have disappeared!

I second the thanks!

I’m halfway through a test build using the preliminary print I made on Bristol. It’s been a long time since building one of these card kits and I need a warm-up. It’s good fun.

I’ve made prints for three engines...maybe I’ll do them all after finishing the test!
