Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition
What about the Bagnall loco 'Rheidol'? As a 2-4-0T it would have a wider market than the big 2-6-2Ts. It ran on the Rheidol till 1923 having run. On the Hafan & Talybont. There is a small drawing in Boyd's book on NGR in Midwales ?and been modelled in larger scales. David On Fri, 17 Apr 2020 at 17:22, David Hughes <formerchurchwarden@...> wrote:

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition
I think the body masters were produced but the chassis and valve gear were proving to be a bit of a challenge. I am sure the masters were in a photo in an article about Wrightlines in an early NG&IRM Review.

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition
As this is my first post here, please let me introduce myself.
My name is Sorin Anghel, I live in Bucharest, Romania and I am a long time modeller. My primary scale is HO (and HOe for narrow gauge) but I am increasingly attracted by O14. Several british made locomotives were used in Romania on 600 mm track, so I have plenty of subjects to think about. If you wish to see my previous works, I have a blog where I show my models (atelierulluianghel.blogspot.com) but it is only written in Romanian. Usually I document my models with lots of photos, though. As I have developed in recent years several etched brass kits, I think maybe this is a real opportunity for me to launch in O14. And I mean the Valley of Rheidol locomotives. I do like the model very much, and I hope to be able to produce a high quality kit for it. I am currently using CAD design and my models have also 3d printed parts. So, in order to get started ?I want to ask you if you know where I can find detailed documentation about these locomotives, maybe some drawings. Many thanks in advance. Stay safe, Sorin |

That looks like a noble start! I have been using Fast Tracks templates in Sn3 for constructing my O14 turnouts and track. Craig I just wanted to thank Marc, Frank, Dave and John for your advice on |

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition
The last I heard about Kevin's proposed VoR loco kit was that almost all the progress he had made on artwork had been wasted because it was hand drawn and all the etching companies he trusted to do the job had switched to digital artwork exclusively.? In order to take things further Kevin was having to teach himself/learn how to use a CAD package.? This was going to take a little while. Adrian? |

Re: 21mm gauge wheel & track standards
I just wanted to thank Marc, Frank, Dave and John for your advice on building points in 021mm gauge. I took something from all the suggestions, which were all helpful. Point building is not my forte but it's necessary in 021 and 014 for that matter. This first one gave me practice and experience as well as meaning I have a short test track where I can try out the centre couplings. The rail is recycled from GEM TT flexitrack I bought around 1977, I think it's code 95! So quite heavy but fine for this application and try buying rail by post at present. A photo attached. The chassis is from Mark Clark. Thanks again guys, David On Wed, 15 Apr 2020 at 09:16, John C via <jclutterbuck2001=[email protected]> wrote: Hi David, |

Shame its only in the BR livery, possibly the most inappropriate use of a corporate livery ever applied! I'm waiting for someone to motorise it! Steve

Re: Something to do in these difficult times - RCL & NGI Competition
I believe that Kevin Trim of Dorset Kits was working on a kit for the Rheidol locos and, knowing Kevin, if it eventually does come to fruition, it is quite likely to be O-14 compatible.

I’m halfway through a test build using the preliminary print I made on Bristol. It’s been a long time since building one of these card kits and I need a warm-up. It’s good fun. I’ve made prints for three engines...maybe I’ll do them all after finishing the test! Dave Eggleston Seattle, WA On Apr 15, 2020, at 6:53 AM, Allan Dare <allan.dare@...> wrote: |
