Re: Mark Clark Wren

Hi

Those rear fixed bearings are the first odd thing in the kit.? They are way too hefty and I have left them in the packet.? A couple of spins in the holes in the chassis with a broach and I have fitted a pair of Gibson's regular bearings.? To fit the bearings?supplied I would still be enlarging those holes.....With these in situ and with?a pair of the thicker washers supplied, the 014 wheels have just the right amount of play.? Same for the High level horn block pair.?? I am sticking with three point compensation and not going down the sprung route.

Next an?error in the instructions (cylinders)?as re parts 7 8 9?- we are told to fold the tabs on 8 down till they touch part 9; don't - that will bend them the wrong way - it is forward till touches part 7.? I am going to build this unit next and then go back to the motor gearbox as per instructions.

As for smoke sound and stay alive capacitors - watch this space!? I do not think there will be any room for capacitors, but the tank will hold a zimo MX648 sited East/West.? The?posterior 20mm of ?boiler will house a 12mm loudspeaker.? The smokebox will house the Seuthe unit with the anterior 10mm of boiler housing a fuel tank.? There will be no space for?fan assisted smoke!? All this gubbins however will fill most of the space needed for lead weights - anyone got any depleted uranium going begging???

I might post some photos soon.
