Michael,
According to my 1964/5 copy of British Railway Track, the bracket holding the stretcher bar to the switch is called somewhat imaginatively a 'stretcher bar bracket'. It does what it says on the tin, I suppose!
Best wishes,
David Hughes

I have re-arranged my folder (mjm's folder) and have uploaded my latest drawings for a #6 set of points.

This time I have included a lot more detail in the way of fishplates, bolts, spikes, etc.

The rails are Micro Engineering code 83 and use 3 way planed blades from This represents 45lb/yd rail in 7mm scale.

The spikes are a (rough) representation of 5/8" square spikes which would normally be adequate for this type of track.

Normally, when I design a set of points, I arrange the spacing between blades and the frog so that the closure rail radius is the maximum possible. This always gives a funny sleeper spacing under the closure rails. This time I adjusted things so that there was constant 2ft spacing between all the sleepers under the points. Plain track sleeper spacing is 2'6".

I have now run out of excuses so I suppose I had better get on and build a few sets.

Regards,
Michael Milway.

PS. Does anyone know what the bracket that connects the blade with the tie bar is called?
