Good morning, Jim.? Welcome back to packet!? I am pretty young in radio and I wasn't alive during the golden years of amateur radio packet but I'm enjoying it now.
As to your question, it depends.? Some nodes have forwarding setup on other ports.? You can check PORTS on the SOLBBS node and see what they have listed.? Since they have bulletins, it is likely they have forwarding setup.? Internet is common for forwarding though VARA, ARDOP, AX.25, and IL2P are all used for the same purpose.? My node has internet, 2m AX.25, AX.25 on NET105, VARA up 500Hz, and IL2P up another 500Hz.? The NET105, VARA, and IL2P are all using the same radio in the same passband.??
So, depending on if and how SOLBBS has forwarding setup, your message may get to the intended recipient or it may get stuck somewhere along the line.? You can ask the SYSOP of SOLBBS if they have forwarding, maybe the INFO command will give you a clue too.??
By the way, as I was typing this, I saw you on HF in a connected session with SOLBBS.? Your signal is making it out to Utah.? Feel free to drop a line on my bbs too.
