I think the Hammond page has a small tutorial on Power suply design using "Brute force" transformers Snoop around http://www.hammondmfg.com/ -- Charles MacDonald Stittsville Ontario cmacd@... Just

Re: TI Eval kit ordered
I got mine a couple weeks ago, been buried in projects and haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Curious what people manage to do with these things.

Re: Current requirements for direct driven 6 tube B7971 Nixie clock
Additionally when you use a full wave bridge, the DC voltage out is higher than the RMS AC voltage in, so the RMS AC current on the transformer secondary is higher than the DC current drawn by the

Re: Current requirements for direct driven 6 tube B7971 Nixie Clock
IIRC the power supply in my 6 tube B7971 clock delivers about 50mA at 180V and that is plenty. There are diminishing returns when it comes to increased brightness for increased drive current, and tube

Re: TI Eval kit ordered
I just called. Turns out that orders are well backorders. Chronos watch = 1-2 weeks back order. MSP430 Kits are 6-8 weeks. My order was on July 2nd. ETS (shipping) is end of August. Michail

Dekatrons are Good for Your Bones !
Apparently dekatrons help prevent bone loss (osteoporosis): http://www.starkepharma.com/pharmaceuticals/?product=nandrolone-decanoate Its for a drug, not the tube we have fun with, here in this group.

Re: Current requirements for direct driven 6 tube B7971 Nixie clock
In DC watts is Volts times amps. IN ac it gets a bit fuzzy because the volts may lead or lag the current. (depending on the nature of the load.) still 35/115 is about 300Ma... If you check the hammond

That "percent sign" sounds like it has the same function as the upside-down 8 that most every normal nixie tube has, that no one ever seems to talk about. In a normal nixie tube, this electrode is

just how much power could you get from the old school ,N51X 115vac to115vac isolation transformer @35 volt amps AC ?(so what do that mean) through a full wave bridge at 400 vdc and a big hunking 100uf

That's 19W; the conversion below can give you the same number of watts as the original PS is rated at whatever voltage you want: http://www.tayloredge.com/reference/Circuits/GPC41-5G/index.html I had
