Gotta correct a mis-conception here. ?This concept of owner vs moderator
is uniquely Yahoo. ?In MailMan there is a an administrative login.
Period. ?If I were to host this list I'd have the admin password, of
course, but so would every other moderator. ?If I lost interest in
neonixie, the other mods would still have full access rights and powers.
?Hosting a list costs me nothing and is going to be around
for a long long time.

John,

I think the argument against you hosting it (nothing personal) is that it would still reside, ultimately, on your server. So even if, at the listsrv level, there were multiple administrators or moderators, there would still be a final single owner who had full control of the list's home.

Now, a possible solution - split it up a bit. I have no mailman experience, but I do have a VPS with disk, CPU and bandwidth to spare, so with assistance on the setup I would be happy to provide a mirror.?

I still feel that the Google Group with multiple private mirrors is simplest, though.

I agree in the strongest possible way. ?I HATE fora with a passion. ?IF
this list went forum, I'd be outta here.

Here I'm with you, at least as far as Neonixie goes. I do happen to like forum, for certain topics -- things I am actively pursuing, so I have a drive to go out and search down the information I need. The beauty of Neonixie, for me, is that I'm not really pursuing electronics right now -- but getting this stream of informative emails is a steady nagging force - I think I learn a lot, and someday I'll get around to applying it.?

Google Groups does a good job of keeping the list format though, while still providing a forum-like web interface.
