We need more info to help you out... Why do you think your problem is with the firmware? Are you following the calibration procedure correctly and resetting before you calibrate? After calibration when you put the 50ohm load on what do you see on the display? When you put the -H in DFU mode and plug it into the computer do you hear the "bing" sound from the computer? If you do the driver is OK and then you can run the firmware update software. What firmware upload package are you using to do the update? Roger

The -h dings when i go into dfu boot mode , the device manager has a flag on it to upgrade driver. The issue , is simple , i reset on the software VNAsaver . 40 version for this example . i set up the freq range ,1.mhz to 4 mhz Reset I start the calibration assistant, all is well. . i hit save , i set up cont sweep , i get swr all over the place, 1.1, 5.5 etc with the 50 ohm connected, i take off the 50 ohm the same thing all over the place . .
What is wrong ?

Did you install DFUSe demo? It installs the driver. If you are getting a flag then you can manually update the driver by right clicking and then pointing to the DFUse directory where the driver is located. The location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\STMicroelectronics\Software\DfuSe v3.0.6\Bin\Driver This video describes the process >> The issue , is simple , i reset on the software VNAsaver . 40 version for this example . i set up the freq range ,1.mhz to 4 mhz Reset I start the calibration assistant, all is well. . i hit save , i set up cont sweep , i get swr all over the place, 1.1, 5.5 etc with the 50 ohm connected, i take off the 50 ohm the same thing all over the place . . Before you start updating the firmware you should check that you can calibrate the NanoVNA in standalone mode without a PC connection. Remember to Reset first. The do the SOL calibration and check for proper operation with each cal load. on the Smith chart you should get a dot on the far left for a short, center for 50 ohms and far right for open. My screenshots shown below. Roger

Thanks Roger , I am understand how it should work , I wish I could get a single dot on the smiths chart . Scattered after reset and cal . It was hot yesterday, so all day I tried to get it to work again. It a shame just over a year old :(
Maybe I messed with expert settings?
What are the proper settings.

Nick, In the first two photos of message 29622, it appears that the NanoVNA is in Transform mode. Did you intend that? (Transform is an item in the Display menu.) --John Gord

Well getting somewhere, transform mode ,is off now, i updated the firmware, look great , but still can't get to hold a calibration. I Calibrate on the software ., I get a center of smith chart, , i do a sweep , absolute mess . , I do cont sweep with dummy load, then if take off the dummy load , still shows , mess, no change ?
This unit was working last week , i guess it is junk ?

Try this.. Go into Expert Settings and select Clear Config (password is 1234). Then do a Touch Cal to calibrate your touch screen. Then Save. This should restore default settings. Then try calibration (remember to reset before calibrating). Roger

Thank you I will try that :) I basically gave up , I might be buying a rig expert zoom35 ?

I had the same issue using the DFuSe program on windows 10- the issue is in the download From STM v 3.06 the driver file is missing.
I found it to download a generic drive and it worked very well- I had to extract it even though it looked extracted in file manager! the url I used is...
Make sure you load the correct version of the dfu file - there is a difference between the H and H4 (2.8" and 4") versions.
file is on this website: kiss.flyduino.net/download/bootloader-driver-package-by-stm
Good luck -- Mike Miller N0NY

The video shows the driver in the BIN file in the program86 folder . FYI I got mine to talking, still get. Scattered lines after calibration. Trash can, bummer:(
