Re: NO JOY... MORE INFO

Another thing to try is to remove the current device driver associated with that port, and then let Windows reinstall that driver when you plug in the nanoVNA...

In Windows Device Manager, there's an option (I believe under View) to see inactive devices. :-)

USB comm ports are assigned a number only when they are connected and can
change when a diffrrent USB port is used so you need to see which port is
added in dev mngr whenyou plug in the nanovna. Hope this helps.

In NanoVNA-APP, the right mouse button is your friend.
Click it on the graph (and other places) for tons of options.

What about clicking on VIEW HIDDEN PORTS? Then delete all and start from scratch.

Short answer, yes, the order in which you turn on and off hardware and software can make a difference in how the ports enumerate.

NanoVNA-Saver uses the python serial package (pyserial) for serial port access. If you have python installed (I'm not sure if you install from the .exe, it actually installs python), you can see how pyserial sees your devices. At the command prompt(>), enter:

python -m serial.tools.list_ports -v

and you'll get a list of what it sees.

NanoVNA-Saver looks through that list looking for VID:PID combinations that it recognizes as being a NanoVNA.

Re: NO JOY... MORE INFO

You could try going into Device Manager->View->Show Hidden Devices then right-click and uninstall all of the USB devices. Then reboot and it should re-find all of the devices and assign them new ports. This may clear up a corrupted entry.

I have a similar issue in that when I connect the Nanovna H4 to USB in
update mode I see nothing happening in device Mgr, no system beep
acknowledging the connection to USB. Nothing. I have tried reloading sw and
even rebuilt Win11. It's like there are no drivers being loaded.
I have looked through tons of back posts and not found anything helpful.
