Re: File //NanoVNA PC Software/NanoVNA-App.rar updated #file-notice

I found a useful app for inspecting USB ports. There are several out there, but the most useful I¡¯ve found is USBDview. It lets you know which ports are active, as well as which ¡®inactive¡¯ ones are stored in the system that Device Manager won¡¯t display because they are inactive. That helps to identify some ports for which drivers might be installed, but aren¡¯t actively being used. Here¡¯s a link to their website:

Good luck, and have a great day.

USB comm ports are assigned a number only when they are connected and can
change when a diffrrent USB port is used so you need to see which port is
added in dev mngr whenyou plug in the nanovna. Hope this helps.

NO JOY... MORE INFO

Thanks to all who replied to my Com Port problem! It is much easier to add info to the group en masse The following is happening in Device Mgr: when I turn the nanovna on or off, DM registers this hardware change I discovered 2 hidden ports Standard Ports 4 & 5 report: This device cannot start. (Code 10) The specified request is not a valid operation for the target device
Enhanced Ports 6 & 7 report:Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer I have no clue how to "connect" these to the system [although, I tried updating the driver] When I turn-on the power supply, for my station, Ports 6 & 7 work properly. However, although Ports 3, 6 & 7 now appear in the drop list, in nano-app, when I click on either one, CONNECTed is displayed for a few seconds, then reverts to DISCONNECTed. Nano-saver still displays no ports and RESCAN does nothing. Can the order, in which I turn-on hardware & softwr, make a difference? Thanks to all, for previous, and upcoming, help. 73Phil, WF3W

I have a similar issue in that when I connect the Nanovna H4 to USB in
update mode I see nothing happening in device Mgr, no system beep
acknowledging the connection to USB. Nothing. I have tried reloading sw and
even rebuilt Win11. It's like there are no drivers being loaded.
I have looked through tons of back posts and not found anything helpful.

I wish I could sign this 7-of-9, or there abouts in the cube.

Putting aside my VNA may be damaged, I cant get any Com Ports to display
in the drop-down list, except COM 3, the system port. Device Mgr lists 4 &
5 - standard & enhanced - and nanovna-saver uses 8.

I'm a bit late to this topic and was going to recommend Mirfield Electronics for your replacement, as they sell good quality NanoVNAs.

Anyway, I hope your Amazon one is OK.

As for storing equipment with LiIon batteries, they don't like to be discharged for long so charge them up before you put them away. I have a DS Nano scope which I only use once or twice a year but it never fails to start up.

Hmmm, I have just received a spam mail purporting to coming from this group, indeed copying previous text from it too

Has anyone else received such an email?

Re: NO JOY NO HOW NO WAY the NEXT DAY

My Windows 11 laptop installs updates every Tuesday so that could be a factor in your problem.

Try NanoVNA-App instead. IMHO it's a much better and more stable piece of software.

Re: NO JOY NO HOW NO WAY the NEXT DAY

OK, there are a few possibilities here. Based on what you wrote, I think
the two most likely are:
1 - Your computer updated overnight (windows does this from time to time),
and something became incompatible. But ver. 0.5.3 is very recent, so that
shouldn't be an issue.
2 - Your nanovna had a failure. Please share with us which specific
NanoNVA you have. I am worried when you say it shows a pastel blue screen
when you plug it into the USB port - the nanovna's I am acquainted with
should not do that - the nano screen stays with a normal operational
display when plugged in.

Hi VNA-savers,

Yesterday, I had zero problems, with NANOVNA-Saver. Worked perfectly. The
program even found a port I had never seen before - hidden or otherwise -
Com Port 8.

Just now, the sftwr wont even recognize the VNA, yet when I unplug the USB
connector, Device Mgr notices the hardware change.

I have tried combinations & permutations of opening & closing the sftwr,
disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, with zero luck and I aint
joyed.

DM lists Ports 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 but no Port 8, hidden and in plain sight,
for all the world to see. The VNA screen goes to a beautiful, pastel blue,
when connected via USB cable, without a connection.

I have the USB cable, from the VNA directly into the motherboard.

I have version 0.5.3 and was notified, today, there is an update. I can
find no ver 0.5.4, which must remain another issue. The program also loves
to close, with unknown keystrokes, to me. Please note: not crash, just
close.
