Re: Poor Quality 50 Ohm Load - Where to get accurate ones?
That¡¯s true only if the reactance is zero. Many RF engineers call them Pastercrap. I tested 10 Pastercrap loads and not one met the specification. A Keysight load, with a better specification, would

Re: O S L on antenna side of a balun / choke with stud terminals?
Chris, I think you had it right, just add a wire or a metal film resistor across the screw terminals of the balun when doing the calibration. An inch or two of wire won't make much difference at 14

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
Looking back at Hugen's original post: /g/nanovna-users/message/15943 it seems he is simply giving buyers the option of having adapter cables with the N-type connectors already

Re: O S L on antenna side of a balun / choke with stud terminals?
Hello Jerry, Sunday, August 16, 2020 Yes, when I measured using RG-58 test coax the results were very different from measuring with LDF4-50 coax, That's the influence of the coax itself. I want to see

Re: O S L on antenna side of a balun / choke with stud terminals?
I think Chris had it right, assuming he wants to measure his antenna and does not want to measure the effect of adding all that coax and the balun into the mix: Doing the O-S-L calibration "at the

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
Although APC-7 connectors from China are now available, they still aren't cheap. One connector from China costs about as much as the entire NanoVNA; the US-made ones from Amphenol are double that. And

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
Two opposite camps have emerged in the connector debate. I suspect the preference for either N or SMA is dictated by the application. The 1st camp consists of those whose primary application is

Re: O S L on antenna side of a balun / choke with stud terminals?
The O-S-L should be done at the same point where your transceiver will be connected - so, assuming you have a short (`12 inch) test jumper connected to Port 0 on the NanoVNA - you would calibrate with

O S L on antenna side of a balun / choke with stud terminals?
16 August 2020 I want to use a nanoVNA the same way I use an AIM4170 analyser and do what AIM calls "refer to antenna" which is their way of saying put the O S and L at the end of the coax to

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
At the end of the day, if like me you are dealing with a lot of "rf modules" bought on eBay, Aliexpress, Taobao etc... which are ALL sma equipped the going SMA over N is just the natural choice, it is

Hi The choice between N-type and SMA seems to be preference driven by what connectors are fitted to other equipment you own; a number of people have said that SMA performance is quite acceptable. For

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
If you want N-type connectors on your $40 VNA, then put the VNA in a enclosure with a couple of adapter cables. Choose a bulkhead style type-N so you can mount it on the wall of the enclosure. A

Re: We started selling SAA2 with N-type RF connector and 4-inch display
The advantage of the N-type connector is durability, which is very important for benchtop instruments. However, a high-quality SMA connector can also work at more than ten GHz. For example, the
