Re: nanovna cases #enclosure

I'd like to see pics! I was given one after my friend decided to buy
one of the larger display units. Would love to get a case for this.
Looks like shipping was equal to the cost of the case?

This HW change is optional.
A newer FW will work even without the change

Re: Trouble buying from China

Greetings,

I am waiting for several items sent via ~pre-COVID normal~, 2-3 week typical delivery time to Canada, ~ePacket~ and ~AliExpress Standard~ express alternatives. These items have been on order for about 2 months and still have not shown up. Surprisingly some small items I ordered around the same time that were sent via economy shipping are trickling in. According to tracking services several of my express shipment items seem to be stuck in China. Possibly economy shipped items are still arriving via container ships in a somewhat ~pre-COVID normal~ fashion. Possibly in contrast many air shipments are currently stalled due to lack of air cargo space for my relatively low priority mail.

I wonder if there are current day statistics regarding shipment methods from China posted somewhere on the Internet that would shed some light on this situation?

Re: Is Gen11.TAOBAO nanoVNA upgradeable to 1.5GHz

The wiki states:

All original nanoVNA and nanoVNA-H with 2.8" display can run the latest firmware. (NOT F, H4 and V2)
Using DfuSeDemo you can backup your current FW (using the "Upload" action )
and then update to a newer FW (using the Upgrade action) so you can go back if something goes wrong.

I had almost a month getting my nanoVNA from BangGood, but I kept in touch with them and they kept me up to date on any delays. I will not hesitate ordering anything from them again.

I ordered a FUNCube Dongle from England last week. Howard shipped it the
next day, FEDEX second-day air. I got it two days later.

Re: Are any of the NanoVNA sold on Amazon any better or worse than any others? Is there a better U.S. site to order from?

Wayne Rash

I had the same experience, also from Amazon. It's probably more expensive than some other options, but I couldn't put my antenna project on hold for a month with Field Day coming up. The unit the shipped included a nice case and quality accessories. The USB-C cable was defective, but I had on one hand, so that wasn't a critical issue. You'll need a coax adapter for anything but an HT antenna, but those are widely available.

It works perfectly and it's easy to use.

I purchased my vna-h from Amazon prime. About 70 usd. Fulfilled by seesii , which when googled seems to be a U.S. outlet for alibaba. It came in the nice gold lettered box with all the accessories and seems to work fine.

Also on the Piscataqua, kc1gcc.

Re: Trouble buying from China

For Bill,

Have you been following the shipping issues??? I heard about it and am experiencing it. I ordered a NanoVNA-F on Mar 9th. It was a pre-order. It was shipped via Economy. Shipping started on the 14th. Mine was shipped on the 17th and arrived in Singapore on the 21st. It is still in Singapore I guess. That is almost 6 weeks. I have ordered from china before via the same method and received the items in less than 2 weeks. For more info go to the nanovna-f group on groups.io. Read Junes posts.

Re: Are any of the NanoVNA sold on Amazon any better or worse than any others? Is there a better U.S. site to order from?

I purchased mine from AURSINC Vector Network Analyzer a year ago. Either I got lucky, or they are a legit outlet. I subsequently "discovered" these lists, and, based on material here, I then ordered a "legit" -H and -F (different sources). Excellent service from June et al. I disassembled both -H and compared...ISTR that I posted images here. I could not see a significant difference twixt the two, and there is no reason why I could not have bought a legit item from a dealer who was reselling legit items. Dunno. Happy w products.

It seems that the routine failure rate for just about everything these days is at least 5% right out of the box|door, and other failures (fittings, knobs, etc.) add a few more percent. It's funny in a way, because I used to look forward to the time when manufacturing had progressed to the point where nearly everything would be nearly flawless (which I know, from running my own company, is possible), but instead it seems that we have sort of regressed. It may be a side effect of "consumer-oriented" economics, rather than "environment- and quality of life-driven" economics. It seems that many buyers now are content to buy something cheaply made, and toss it, neglectful of the environmental impact. Growing up in Maine, and watching the slow, steady decline of the environment there made me very aware that my grandchildren would not see the same world that I was raised in.

LT: I was raised in northern Maine, moved south many years ago, and settled on the banks of the Piscataqua in Eliot. I did a research project on local history while I was there, and decided that I wanted to keep the name active, so I adopted the tag line. Now I live in NH, and can't see the Piscataqua from here :-), but still will always keep the line. Nice to meet you!

Re: Is Gen11.TAOBAO nanoVNA upgradeable to 1.5GHz

Hi Dave,
First You must upgrade the hardware of Your device.
- remove R29, R30 and R31
- replace R13 by 0 Ohm
- replace R9 by 200 Ohm
- replace R24 by 91 Ohm
- replace R22, R23 by 49.9 Ohm
- replace R25 by 11 Ohm
In order to use the full frequency range (10 kHz to 1500 MHz) You must update Your Firmware.

Regards Bert

Reed, you are right. Aexample, i order small low cost items. They used to
come as free economy post. 30 to 50 days.
For a $2 item i feel bad to pay 15$ shipping

I got a NanoVNA from China a few weeks ago (purchased through Ali Express).
It took a long time to get here - about 1 1/2 months.

Re: Is Gen11.TAOBAO nanoVNA upgradeable to 1.5GHz

Hi Erik
Thanks for your swift reply.
I was aware of the wiki but haven't found reference to how you ascertain if a particular nanoVNA is (or isn't) upgradeable to higher frequency operation. (1.5GHz)
Also, I can't find a menu option to display what version of the software my nanoVNA is running. Unless the momentary 'splash' screen Gen11 is a clue?
Other contributors seem to have a CONFIG option in their menus.
Dave

So, where and from whom did you hear this? I am in the importing business and have zero problems importing from anywhere - lead-times on OEM materials are shorter right now if anything. Please send me info on your source of info and perhaps I can get to the bottom of it.

To that point, my NanoVNA-F just arrived - took about 45 days - but earlier than promised by about a month. Watch buyer comments on any source you choose to use.

Is Gen11.TAOBAO nanoVNA upgradeable to 1.5GHz

Hi newbie here,
I have to admit I was tempted to buy a 'nanoVNA' off Ebay without knowing about this group or the plethora of different nanoVNA's, their extended ranges and 'clones' .
So the one I have displays Gen11.TAOBAO on the splash screen and doesn't seem to have some of the menu items mentioned by other contributors on this forum.
So I guess I have a 'basic' 50k-900MHz clone?
Question....
Is the nanoVNA upgradable to extend the range to 1.5GHz as it would have been good to cover the 23cms band, or did I mess up?
If it is upgradable, can someone link me to a 'dummies guide' how to do this please?
Thanks in anticipation
Dave
