This is a mechanical error that occurred during the production of the first series.
Because the downtime was very long, the manufacturer was not able to make the conversion. If I could recommend it, you might want to add some helpful information to your merchant kit. Anyone who has received the new product will not be able to handle the problem with confidence. There is always an exception. So if the redesign is not workable, then it is advisable to include help information along with the shipment, what is the solution to repairing the malfunction. This is just a suggestion - I just suggest the opportunity. - If only the USB connector does not fit in place: /g/nanovna-users/message/10333 - If the login screen freezes or there is no menu screen when turned on: /g/nanovna-users/message/10369 and /g/nanovna-users/message/10498 may be the solution. 73, Gyula HA3HZ |

glad you got the -H4. Since yours can come from a prototype, I think similar to mine. I received it at the end of January, among the first. What I encountered was posted in the forum on how to fix it. I think you can have the same error, mechanical, too. Received my NanoVNA H4 yesterday from Maggie King. Unboxed it and 1st thing I did was use the USB cable to charge it. at the USB-C connection a red LED was blinking. This morning Red LED solid. I decided it had a charge, time to turn it on and check it out..FYI I have a NanoVNA 2.8" since Nov 2019..
1. Turned it on. got a Banner Screen Big blue letters- NanoVNA-H 4 and 11 lines of info.. 2. The multi-switch does NOTHING! 3. After 30+ seconds the right side menu comes up. a. Multi-switch does not work.. b. touching any option on the right side menu DOES NOTHING. c. After another 30 seconds it disappears.. 4. The screen is now displaying Smith chart and grid, Start 50KHz. Stop 900MHz. a. only tapping on the screen brings up the right side menu c. Multi-switch does not work.. d. touching any option on the right side menu DOES NOTHING. c. After another 30 seconds it disappears.. 5. So at this point it is impossible to get into the Calibrate submenu.. a. Multi-switch is not same as my old NanoVNA b. Multi-switch binding, not operating smoothly. 6. Decision a. Pack it back up -contact Maggie for replacement b. Perform a (India help desk term) "KILL THE FLEA" Remove all power - Kill the flea power.. 7. Removed all 4 screws and removed circuit board. a. Battery has removable connection. Removed battery turned on power switch. then 5 seconds later turned off. (KILL THE FLEA) b. found multi-switch felt "different" (was not smooth operating prior.) 8. Out of the case a. NanoVNA-H 4 Banner comes up 2-3 seconds b. Multi-switch works erratically,. c. can now go to CAL & CALIBRATE Menu -multiple tries. d. cleaned up the case around the multi-switch to make smoother activation. 9. Reassembled a. NanoVNA-H 4 is NOT operational b. Not real happy multi-switch NOT WORKING AGAIN c. Blue LED flashes irregularly d. Loosing the case / removing from case seems to effect operation. e. Multi-switch intermittent / does not work smoothly. f. Repeated steps 7-8-9 same results. 10. Conclusion- a. cold solder joint somewhere.- case torquing board b. Intermittent multi-switch... looks impossible to replace. c. Needs replacement / repair d. DISSATISFIED - Contacting Maggie King. |
