? Roger,
Thank you for your comprehensive inputs. I appreciate your time and
insight.
However, at the risk of showing my further ignorance, I see bandied about
"DFU files", "DFUse package", etc., like everyone ought to know and
understand what they are and how to utilize them without damaging your
device. Well, I have never come across them before and it is quite
difficult to read all the threads on Wiki and the listserver and come up
with a good understanding of the possible "gotchas" and how to avoid them.
I have read of those that have tried to update the FW and have bricked
their devices,? so not being sure of myself, I have hesitated.
Bob GM4CID, also suggested ANtScope 2, which I appreciate, but I don't
have a handle on the limitations.
If you would share the approximate date of your post on the Nano Saver v4,
I will look for it and see how I might use it.

However, I would like to be able to use them as they are, with my Win7
desktop and Win10 laptop. The problem is, I'm not sure which software(s)
to download and use. I have read the Wiki and it is not specific enough
for me to resolve the question with my two original firmware, NanoVNAs.
Can someone simplify the question for me? Is there one software good for
both of them? Or, if not, which software for either of them, both being
non-updated.
You have three choices for NanoVNA -H/H4 to PC operation. ?This is my
order of preference.
1. NanoVNA App - ?Originally developed by OneOfEleven and then modified by
DiSlord and Owen Duffy. ??This Windows program will work with your -H4 but
your -H but may need a firmware upgrade with the latest binary transfer
protocol. ?A nice feature it has a easy to use firmware update tool built
into the program. ?That is all I use now for upgrades.
2. NanoVNA Saver - There have been reports that the latest version 5 has
some bugs and it does not run on Windows 7. ?However I made a version 4
version that does run on Windows 7. ?You will find it in a post I made a
few months ago in this group.
3. AntScope2 by RigExpert. ?This software works with the -H4 and -H but
has limited functionality compared to the two programs above.
On Windows 10 the serial port driver for the nanoVNA should install
automatically or after a Windows Update. ?On Windows 7 you have to
manually install the drivers. ??I posted a link to them in an earlier post
about NanoVNA Saver for Windows 7.
For Windows 7 and 10 you need to install another driver to support
uploading DFU files. ?That comes with the DFUse package and a link is in
one or more posts in this group. ?Check the Wiki.
