Two bad clones have been found,
they have failed to understand the role of bridge and shielding,
and made some bad modifications to facilitate manufacturing.
My unshielded black clone just arrived, 16 days after ordering.
White text is less bold than on shielded black units,
and front bezel is held by 4 black screws,
.. also lacking CH0 label and third calibration "standard"
I added some shielding. Did not see a drastic improvement.
Performance is between "okay" and "meh",
good enough for fieldday-use or to check stuff on a flea-marked.
When testing with a switchable attenuator, I noticed silly results below
approx. 25 dB of attenuation in the higher frequency (>500 MHz).
My bet is on crosstalk-effects.
Unfortunately, this is a bad clone, there will be a big performance drop
above 300MHz.
Thanks, Hugo, for the clarification.
Do you know about this other version, seemingly not using screws?
If not those, then probably none from eBay should be expected to work well
above 300mHz...
FWIW, some eBay ads include images from different black versions.
