I see a number of references to different firmware versions. It is hard to
know what one person are referring to. If the md5 checksum of a binary was
given, there would be no doubt whether two versions are the same.
Of course the other advantage is to check for file corruption too.
Once I get around to boxing mine up, I will start to use it, but I think at
this moment in time I am more than likely to damage it.
