Today I made some measurements on a nominal 10 uH inductor from my parts bin using the S11 Shunt and S21 Series methods of measuring impedance. Test jigs were made using SMA PCB mount connectors with small pin connectors. A NanoVNA-H4 (with DiSlord 1.0.69 firmware) was used. Calibration load was a 49.9 ohm 0805 SMD resistor.
S11 and S21 Touchstone files were imported into a spreadsheet and the conversions to impedance computed and plotted. Resistance ranged from 0 to 250 ohms and reactance up to 2200 ohms. Results comparing the two methods are attached. Readers will note that the results were quite similar for both methods.
