Re: What USB cable? #usb #nanovna-h4

Sorry Brian, but that is incorrect.
OTG refers to a mode of operation for any of the USB type of interfaces from Mini - Micro and C used on mostly mobile devices (phones/tabs/etc).

Essentially, any of those three interface sockets are typically in client mode (Except the newer PCs that have USB-C sockets - but we're talking about mobile devices here). If - and only if - the device supports OTG (many don't) when you plug in a cable that has a specific wiring config in the plug, the device will change the USB port from device mode to HOST mode and supply 5v at up to 500mA.
My new Moto Edge+ cellphone and my Samsung Tablet both have a USB-C interface but I still need an OTG cable to get them to switch to host mode so I can plug peripherals into it.
Regards,Larry

USB-C is also known as "OTG", for On the Go. It fits smartphones, portable charging batteries, and some (most?) other newer portable devices. This is the cable to use if you install the NanoVNA Android app on your smartphone to connect your Nano to the phone. When this cable firs appeared with a new phone I thought, great, another type of cable end to buy adaptors for! Since then, I've realized that this has become the new standard for portable devices and been happy to see this happen.
