Here is what you are looking at for replacement of the screen. You would need to remove the top cover, carefully unfold the LCD from the board (mine was not glued or secured, and unsolder the ribbon connector from the PCB. Installation would be the reverse of the process. There appear to be a number of replacements available on eBay in response to a search for "2.8 inch LCD touchscreen" in the $8 - $15 range.
