Tektronix overview, Parameters_Poster plus a question

Greetings again from ZS land :-)

Whilst searching for VNA information (basic 101 stuff) I came across an introductory write up on the Tektronix web site together with a 'poster' that provides (to my mind) an easy to understand overview of VNA related 'stuff'.

Performed a search of the nanovna-users group for similar entries as do not wish to duplicate and not finding anything (perhaps already mentioned but not using the search times I tried?) though I would post in case of interest / value to other members of the group.

Being as the material is accessible to anyone visiting the Tektronix site, I doubt that there are any 'access restrictions' but in case there are and I have not noticed, my sincere apologies to whoever I am offending and perhaps the nanovna-users group owner / moderator can delete this message.

The link for the write up is:

and the poster (3Mb download) can be found at:

Question:
In several video's discussing VNA's when the scatter measurement (the S labeled parameters - I learnt that by reading the poster!) the numeric value of the S parameters is seemingly not pronounced as the numeric number in question e.g. S11 is not pronounced as "S eleven" but rather as 'S one one". Why is that and are all S parameters pronounced using the same syntax i.e. S21 is "S two one"?

Alas my memory from my time in the telecommunications workshops (West Midlands Gas Board in the U.K. in case anyone on the group also from the same era and area) where I was working on all systems from audio through to microwave does not serve me well...

Many thanks in advance and hope the 'simple' question does not upset anyone.
