Re: PL-259 calibration

Kevin, don't worry so much about all this.? It's a hobby, and a PL-259 isn't so terrible that it will cause problems.? I have used them with good results up to 70 cm.? Type N is better but you would have to make careful measurements to see the difference.
Of course, if you are going to do it, it would be nice to do the best you can.? But sometimes it's not worth the effort to fight with the law of diminishing returns.
Back in the day, we used a 100 W light bulb as a dummy load.? Not exactly 50 Ohms but it did the job.? Now, everyone gets annoyed if their dummy load is 45 Ohms.? Heck that's an SWR of 1.1:1.

I was going to switch them all to N connectors, on that note, is that still what's recommended? but then would have to do every radio and antenna. When I setup my new tower will probably make the switch at least on the tower. At least the antenna side of things, a pain to make the switch on most radios.

I figured at least for now if I have PL259 calibration ends it will be as accurate as possible without adapters.
