Re: Sma to alligator clip - ok for HF?

I made a video at that talks about this topic.? The effect of a short length of wire and small alligator clips will have a smaller effect if you are measuring relatively high impedances at HF but will have larger effect if you are measuring? small impedances.? This is assuming you have not done a calibration that includes these leads.? There is no "carte blanche" correct answer.? What I do is use SimSmith to undo the effect of the short leads.? This is not perfect but is a lot better that just assuming all is well.

You can measure the effect of the test setup by reading its unconnected impedance, both open and shorted.? In general, you can use a small setup at a very wide range of frequency.

If i want to measure circuits on a breadboard for example can i use sma to wires/clips if i am working under 20mhz?
