You are right. I will fix this in the next release.

Quisk Version 4.2.37 August 2024

Quisk now has a new option "Fixed tune offset" on the Config/radio/Options screen. This is meant for Softrock radios that need a constant audio frequency to simplify amplitude and phase corrections. The value zero means no change to Quisk tuning. Otherwise enter the fixed frequency offset from center. If you are using the obsolete "mouse_tune_method = 1" please delete it and use this new feature. If you use softrock_tune_vfo.py as your hardware file, you should replace it with softrock/hardware_usb.py.
?
Quisk now works on Python 3.12. And I fixed a bug in the small screen graph width.

Split and Spots

When clicking on a spot, in this case there should be a change?receiver frequency, not the transmitter. Now is transmitter.
Command FAxxxxxxxxxxx from Spots window to Quisk.

Shrink the graph

Hi,
I have configured Quisk with the small display option and set the dimensions to 800x480 pixels.? The control panel displays fine but the graph panel over runs the right side of the display. What (if any) configure parameter may be changed to display the full bandwidth?

Re: Quisk and Wayland

Hello All,
?
Thanks.? Quisk is working on a RPi 5 (Bookworm).? No changes were needed to the configuration of the operating system.? Python plays very well is the Wayland engine.?
?
I wish to send a BIG thanks to Jim for helping us (Multus SDR) with integrating our transceivers into Quisk.? We now have a SDR host application we can stay with, hopefully for the very long term.

I've created a hardware file for the HL2 controlled by an ICOM RC-28 remote encoder:

I built my HiQSDR as a standalone box originally with 7" display on Pi3 which was first replaced by an ODROID-C2 and now uses an ODROID-C4 all using quisk.
HL2's using home built PiHPSDR v2's.

Quisk and Wayland

Hi,
This is most likely my first post to this group.?? We (Multus SDR) are moving to Quisk for our preferred SDR host application for a number of reasons, among them the cross platform capabilities.?? This leads me to the question I have.? For at least one of our products we have implemented an embedded RPi 4 (or 5).? Raspberry has moved to using the back end Wayland platform for the desktop.? Question:? Does Python3 / Quisk play nice with Wayland?? There is a configuration option to have Raspberry O.S. (bookworm) to revert to using X-windows.? (Note:? We are currently testing Quisk on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 (bookworm) that only supports X-windows due to its hardware complement.? Quisk is running OK on it (just a bit slow).? The point is Quisk runs fine on bookworm with the X-windows back end).
?
So, once again, does Python3 / Quisk play nice with Wayland?
?
Regards,
Ron

Re: Praise for Quisk

For me this is not a big deal.? If WSJT-X is not installed to a system path everything works fine.

Re: Praise for Quisk

Hi Ron,
?
I don't 100% remember the exact choice presented, but I installed Python to the system path per instructions and then there are usually 2 choices, current user and all users.? I always choose current user.

Hi Stew,

When you installed Python what path did it update,? the system path or the user path.? On my system, python is using the user path.

Just to be clear.? I do have the popup for radio selection but selecting a radio other than configfileradio, Quisk will not load.
?
The shortcut is looking in the right folder for pythonw but just to be sure here is the target and start in links of the shortcut:
Target: C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python311\pythonw.exe -m quisk

Re: Filter setting and band tab not filling in

You may be using a Config File Radio. First create a new radio and then enter settings for that radio.

Re: Praise for Quisk

Hello Stew,
?
Please delete your old Quisk shortcut and create a new shortcut by right-clicking the screen. If there is only one Python on your PC enter the location:
?
pythonw -m quisk
?
If you need to specify the python version (eg, 3.8) enter:
?
pyw -3.8 -m quisk
?
Please let me know if it works.

Filter setting and band tab not filling in

I have tried all of the normal clicks and keys to fill in the address settings and cannot cause anything to enter. I am using a laptop and cannot figure this out.

Re: Praise for Quisk

Thank you, that was very helpful. When WSJT-X is installed to the system path it puts its "bin" directory on the path. This directory has DLLs with the same names as Quisk DLLs and creates conflicts. When Windows has DLL conflicts it dies without an error message.
?
I will see what I can do about this.

Re: Praise for Quisk

Hi Jim,
?
Running the command python quisk.py , Quisk will load properly when WSJT-X is installed to system path for all users.
?
My short cut to run Quisk per your instruction uses, "Use "quisk.exe" as the command and "Quisk" as the name. The "quisk.exe" program is in your_install_directory\Scripts" as the name" and this will not work when WSJT-X is installed to system path.
