Simple IQ Quisk?

Hi,
? As a relatively new person to SDR, I have a working SDR front end. ?It has a Si5351 and I & Q outputs.I would like to interface to a Raspberry Pi3 or a (if possible) a STM32 demo board. ?I'm assuming that a version of Quisk can be edited to work? ?For starters, I would just like to decode the I & Q signals.. Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Jim W0CHL

Re: Audio problem with Quisk build 4.1.46

Hi Jim,

As for the Radio Sound Output settings,The following error has occurred.
I am using Micron SDR receiver designed by Mr. David/N7DDC.

For Ver4.1.45
1. If "High Definition Audio Device" is set manually, Quisk will also start with a sound.
2. Quisk won't start when selecting "¥Ø¥Ã¥É¥Û¥ó (High Definition Audio
Device)" from the Radio Sound Output pull-down menu.

For Ver4.1.46
1. When set to "High Definition Audio Device", there is no sound but it starts up.
2. Quisk won't start when selecting "¥Ø¥Ã¥É¥Û¥ó (High Definition Audio
Device)" from the Radio Sound Output pull-down menu.

It seems that it doesn't start when a Japanese font enters.

Thanks, Leo/WH2Q 73.

Re: Audio problem with Quisk build 4.1.46

Hello Dave,

That is not the right screen. Please send a screen shot of the "Sound" tab, two tabs over from Status. Take a look at the pictures provided by David Fainitski to see the correct screens.

Next try fixing it by re-entering the sound device names on the "G7LHS ADT" screen "Sound" tab. Use the drop-down menu to select the names of the sound devices. Meanwhile I will try to figure out what happened. The change in sound_devices.c was meant to correctly recognize names with non-ASCII (French, Russian, etc.) characters.

Edited

Hi James
Here is the screenshot.

I have also found that if I replace _quisk.pyd by the build 45 version of the file, it all works again.

Hello, James

I have selected my sound card in my radio settings and the sound works good again.

Hello,

Has anyone else seen Windows fail to find a sound device?

Dave, please post a screen shot of the Config/Sound page. It shows all the sound devices Quisk has discovered. I may have to send you a special debug Quisk version to figure this out.

Audio problem with Quisk build 4.1.46

Hi chaps

I've got a problem with build 46. My rig is the G7LHS SDR which appears as a USB audio device under windows.

With build 46 Quisk tells me?¡°DirectSound play device G7LHS ADT V1 not found¡±
If I revert to 45 it works fine. Roll forward to 46, no audio.?

Anyone else had any similar effects?
James notes some changes to the directX C code but can't see any problems.
Reentering the sound device name (or truncating it) makes no difference

Dave

Re: Old Messages from Yahoo Groups

To paraphrase an old saying: "Wealth is knowledge".? And knowledge is the information that supports it.
And, if that store of knowledge helps someone with just one problem, we are wealthy indeed.

What Maria has done is preserve out wealth.

Thank you Mario.

Re: Old Messages from Yahoo Groups

Yahoo has a data export tool available at??but I didn't see any documentation of what data it provides or in what format. I kicked off the tool and once my results are available, I'll report back on what it does.

Re: This New Group Is Live

Hi Jim,

yes it is correct that the first post needs to be approved by one of the Moderators. This is because everybody can join without approval (this is also a setting that can be changed). I think thats not a big deal to approve a message here and there. At least better than to approve 500+ people that want to join ;) Feel free to adjust the settings. You are a co-owner of the group.
Meanwhile i managed to upload all pictures and files from the old group. Only the HTML archive of the old messages is missing since i am not satisfied yet (index file is missing). It will be about 17MByte unzipped and i think thats not a problem for everybody to download if he is searching for some older information.

Mario

Re: Quisk on Python3

Hello Graeme,

Thanks again for testing.? The last band, frequency etc. are saved in .quisk_init.pkl in your home directory. This is a "pickle" file, and I see the Python3 code is not correct. I will fix it.

This New Group Is Live

Thanks to Mario, this new group is now the replacement for the Yahoo n2adr-sdr group. Please start posting all new messages here. There may be a few rough spots while I figure things out. It seems that the first message from a new user must be approved. I will work on getting all the settings correct.

Old Messages from Yahoo Groups

This is in reply to Mario, who has gotten this new group started. Thanks Mario!

I am not convinced that old messages from Yahoo need to be preserved, but I also have no objection to it. If you can make an HTML archive and upload it to files, that would be great. I can also host on james.ahlstrom.name, but it makes more sense to host here. Just let me know what you want me to do.

Quisk on Python3

Hello Jim,

So far Quisk is going well using Python3. There are a couple of trivial bugs in that when Quisk starts it is in Audio mode and when switching to another band it does not display the last used frequency. It also defaults to 48 Ksps rather than what was last used. It is reading the settings in the quisk_conf.py as I have custom screen colours which load OK and also reads the quisk_settings.json file and the quisk_favorites.txt files.

Another interesting thing is that running quisk-4.1.45 with Python 2.7, people I spoke to said that there was a faint echo on my signal which I put down to RF getting into my microphone (I have had that before and fixed it with common mode chokes) but running on Python 3.6 they tell me it has completely gone away.

So far a very positive experience and there is nothing to make me want to revert to Python 2
