Re: Quisk 4.2.16 install error

Have you installed the dependencies (software libraries that Quisk needs to build and run)?? There is a table of required dependencies in:

Look for section entitled "Linux Initial Installation".

Quisk 4.2.16 error

I had Quisk 4.2.15 running on my W10 machine with Python 3.10.9.
I was trying to set up a Quisk remote Client, however, the prompt and data entry field for
the IP address was not displaying on the Remote tab (in Config). So I upgraded Quisk
to 4.2.16 hoping that would solve the problem.
Now, when I try to run it, I get the attached error message.
A window appears momentarily and immediately disappears.
I regressed to 4.2.15, and had the?same problem.
I uninstalled Quisk and reinstalled from scratch - it installed 4.2.16, and I still have the
same problem.
I would appreciate some assistance in?fixing this.
Thanks, Tom

Re: Quisk and HPDSR with multiband

Hi,

my reply above regarding TRX-DUO lacks some explanation: the measurements in the linked issues is for a Stemlab 16-122 SDR. The values for the TRX-DUO are similar though.
The TX sideband noise of the TRX-DUO is a bit worse due to the better clock oscillator of the Stemlab 16-122 SDR. I don't have my measurements at hand, the may even be lost.

Re: Quisk and HPDSR with multiband

Hi Mario,
I used Quisk following a 144MHz Transverter for contesting which has 2 outputs: a) 14 -? 14.5 MHz broadband and b) 9MHz narrowband fixed IF provides by an additional up/down converter and Xtal Filter.
This is a kind of multiband operation.
Normal RX and TX was via 9 MHz IF to provide max. dynamic range and a clean TX Signal.
The 14 MHz broadband path is used for the spectrum scope and sometimes to monitor a particular frequency.
This worked very well provided that the gains of both paths were adjusted to avoid overload.
All the frequency settings were programmed in the Quisk hardware file.

I have a TRX-Duo here and tested it: beware, that the TX signal is not very clean due to the PLL provided clock of the DAC but also on board SMPS noise and spuirs which I suspect to be cross-talk inside the FPGA (). Should be no issue for QRP though.

Re: Quisk and HPDSR with multiband

Hello Mario,

The reception quality of Quisk is great of course, and you can run as many instances of Quisk as you want, as I have done it successfully. Though for receiving all HF bands? at the same time, typically to monitor FT8 traffic with a single? multiband antenna, I personally find Sparksdr more practical because you only need to run 1 instance of the program (similar? reception quality than Quisk). My favorite program for voice is Quisk though.?

The TRX duo is HPSDR compliant not Hermes light compliant. Quisk is not by default HPSDR compliant, it is hermes light compliant which is almost the same but not totally.... Practically, it means that the way to switch bands by default? is different than for PowerSdr,? Linhpsdr and Thetis which are HPSDR compliant (not hermes light compliant) . So a multiband low pass or bandpass? pass? filter designed to work for PowerSDR or LinHPSDR or Thetis? may not "automatically work " with QUISK (this was my experience). Last time,? I checked this, about two years ago,? it required to adapt some band switching? parameters in Quisk to make Quisk band switching work in an HPSDR way. I don't remember how it goes with Sparksdr but it is also hermes light compliant I think.?

Good luck with your project?

Regards?
Peter

Hi all,

does anybody of you have experience with HPSDR and multiband operation in Quisk?
Specifically i am looking for information how good reception of different bands in parallel is working.
I want to use a TRX-DUO with hpsdr compatible firmware and Quisk plus some external converters to do QO-100 fullduplex (TX on one band and simultaneous RX on the other band) as well as using it with microwave transverters.
Any information about if my use-case could work is welcome.

Re: Remote operation quisk and Hermes lite2

Hi Lars,

As Niels has said, I made a short guide on my blog as a similar problem came up on the HL2 support group...

My blog...

Hopefully it is enough basic information to get it running inside your own LAN network.
Inside your own network, there should not be any need to adjust firewall settings if using a R-Pi as the 'server' and a Windows Laptop/PC as the 'client'

If you or anyone finds something wrong or good to add to the blog, please let me know and I will update it.

Re: Fifi sdr and Quisk

I use the FiFi sdr with Quisk (version 4.2.14) on a Raspberry pi 3 (Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye), Architecture: arm64).
And it works without a problem, but I have to use 96000 sample rate.
I attached the "quisk_hardware_fifisdr.py" hw file I use, have never used it on Win, but it works on all my Linux computers.

Re: Quisk and the 'old' Alex(aires) filters

I am in a similar situation. ?I am running a newer 16 bit hermes board with homebrew copies of the alex boards and have the same question. ?You can configure quisk in the bands section to switch the alex filters but it defaults to the hermes lite filter configuration. ?Not sure what the configuration is for the alex filters I doubt it¡¯s the same. ?Need to find the original documentation for them (old hpsdr site) or sit down and play with it tell its correct. ?

Thanks for the info Nigel.? I will immediately unsubscribe to this forum and subscribe to the one suggested.? BTW, I'm not using DHCP to control this IP address.? It is reserved in my router for this specific radio.

Quisk and the 'old' Alex(aires) filters

I think this will be a question for Jim, N2ADR.
I have an 'old' openHPSDR??which is the original modular pre-Hermes SDR with Metis, Mercury, Pennylane, PennyWhistle modules and the Alex(airies) filter set.
I'd like to run Quisk remote with the openHPSDR, but need to be able to correctly configure the Alex filters - I seem to recall they were in an older release of Quisk?
Is it much of a pain to re-instate them?

I'm liking Quisk remote and have it running with an HL2 but would really like the 160 to 6 metre functionality of the openHPSDR on the remote site.
