I've found the reason why I can't connect over a MiFi: limited port access. The 4G providers here make only very few ports available (open), hence I will have to use some kind of tunnel. Initially I tried SSH tunneling, which worked but with a 10 s update timing of the graph :-(. So now I am in the process installing Openvpn, and will use port 1194 (UDP), as that port is open over 4G. I am not there yet, configuring openvpn takes more time than anticipated, but I will let you know when/if I succeed.
