That looks like an HTML problem.

? Did you try it in a different browser?

? Will it allow you to stretch the window to give it more room?

BARRON'S: Apple Pay is Getting Popular. That’s a Problem for PayPal

Interesting story.?

John

Apple Pay is Getting Popular. That’s a Problem for PayPal
Apple continues to move deeper into payments and PayPal is feeling the pain. PayPal (ticker: PYPL) still dominates as a provider of digital payment services, but its lead is narrowing as rivals gain share. Apple Pay, which was launched by Apple (AAPL) in 2014, has been making the most strides, Lisa Ellis, analyst at MoffettNathanson, wrote in a note Tuesday. Those troubles are apparent in PayPal’s stock price, which has gained only 3% this year. Its closest rival, Block (SQ), has advanced 23%

P.S. What will tweets be called now? Unknowns?

Musk says a new Tweet will be called an X.

This business genius takes one of the most well-known brands in the world and flushes it down the toilet. He might as well be heating his house with bundles of that $40B he paid for Twitter.

I stopped reading Tweets a few months ago after Musk murdered Tweetbot, my preferred client. I’ve been trying to warm up to Mastodon as a Twitter replacement. I’ve refused to look at Threads because I’m repulsed by Instagram/Facebook/Zuckerberg.

Re: AT&T Fiber and Router Questions

When I set up mine, I was able to google how to set the modem to passthrough and direct it to my non-wireless router. They don’t make it easy, and at one point an update to the modem broke its ability to do passthrough, so it is not without its issues. It works quiet reliably for me these days. I connected two access points in my attic to my router with ethernet. (They also require something to generate the power on the cable, which is easily done with a POE switch or adapters that put power on the cable somewhere in the vicinity of your modem/router.).

If you simply want better wifi, you can also just turn the radios off in the AT&T device and attach your own wifi access point(s) via ethernet.

You can also, like L^2, simply add a wifi router downstream from the pass-through enabled ATT device.

Lots of options.

Jonathan

I'm not much on networking, so looking for some advice. Our neighborhood recently gained access to AT&T fiber service and we are wanting to upgrade. With our current AT&T service we have their modem/router and then we have a separate Linksys router set to bridge mode that we use to handle all our devices. It has several nice features that allow me to map/identify all our devices, do port forwarding and it supports both 2G and 5G networks as well as a Guest network. The router is old so I'm sure it won't support the new fiber network speeds. Just wondering, do we even need a separate router behind the one provided with AT&T Fiber these days? Any advice/info from anyone using AT&T fiber is appreciated.

I’ve had AT&T fiber for several years. They unfortunately require that you use their gateway/router, which is actually not a bad device. The one I have is really an Arris BGW210 stamped with the AT&T logo. AT&T doesn’t give you much information, but you can learn its fine points by downloading the manual from Arris.

When I first got it, I used it as my router and WiFi source. It worked fine, but I found the WiFi was actually pretty weak, so I switched to a Synology DS220+ router downstream from the Arris, which is set in dumb pass through mode.

I consistently get up and down speeds exceeding 900 Mb/s over Ethernet with this combination. Here’s what I saw a couple of minutes ago. (It might actually be a little faster, but my wife is streaming a movie upstairs.)
