Re: HDMI Cable fail

Harry, you can send your Apple Device (Mac or iDevice) screen to an AppleTV attached to your TV with AirPlay. No cables, and it works great.

Hi you beautiful Mac users!

I have a HDMI cable attached to my TV. The other end is attached to a dongle that, when connected to my iPad or iPhone, shows the content on the device on my TV.

When the cable/dongle is not being used it remains attached to the TV. Last night I wanted to watch something on my iPad and the television did not recognized that there was a cable and device attached to the HDMI slot. I detached the cable from the TV and from the dongle and then reconnected the cable to the TV and the iPad. Still the TV did not recognize that there was something attached to the HDMI slot.

I switched to a different HDMI cable and it worked as it should.

What would make a HDMI cable just laying about suddenly not work?

It is quite befuddling.

Is their any way to test a HDMI cable?

As always your insights and assistance will be appreciated.
